swinging back an update to this, I've switched to claude code, and oh boy what a difference. It still does spit out nonsense once in a while but even the ux changes of splitting its changes up into manageable chunks and describing it, is making the process much more enjoyable

I was using GitHub copilot extension on Vscode with Claude sonnet 4.5, it's not terrible but still requires quite a bit of wrangling
I haven't been able to get good results by asking LLMs to update documentation, it usually deletes maybe 75% of the outdated stuff and leaves behind some artifacts of outdated documentation, I find manually deleting stuff much more reliable, have you come across this?

Gridfinity compatible tool storage for a multimeter, a glass jar with steel wool inside, and a precision screw driver with bits
Also been designing gridfinity compatible soldering tool holders, inspired by solder.pro. I don't have 6mm magnets which is the gridfinity standard, so I designed for 5mm, but the placement of the magnets are distanced to be compatible with 6mm magnets tool holders
2 sets of angle blocks, 3d printed. They are in increments of 15, 22.5, 30, 45, and one set has a woodworking style dovetail channel with accompanying woodworking style butterfly biscuits to connect the blocks together
Been designing some angle blocks for setting and referencing angles, when sharpening chisels, not sure if they're as useful as I thought but I'm quite proud of the dovetail solution to combine angles though

As an aside, if we then switch to a deterministic language like a programming language, then a compiler/transpiler is just more accurate, we don't need LLMs for that
This happened to me when searching for an acronym that I found in some docs, I wasn't sure if the acronym existed in my company, asked the LLM, it gave an answer but no source, this rang alarm bells so I had to verify by checking with the LLM again, and then for good measure do a traditional search
They're calling a tool, this allows the human user to identify when the tool has been use or the ai is hallucinating
