Thrilled to announce my portfolio βWoodlands Throughout the Yearβ has won the British Seasons category of the 2026 British Wildlife Photography Awards. My bluebells image is highly commended in Wild Woods too.
Over 13,000 photographs were entered, so to be awarded is something Iβm really proud of.
Beautiful side light shines into this beech woodland in the Chiltern Hills, Oxfordshire, England
Forest mood from the weekend fog πͺΎ
A young tree surrounded by older trees. Beautiful sunbeams shine behind, casting long shadows through the trees.
I loved this young tree surrounded by its older siblings. The light was truly spectacular, and made this composition really work. The green growth on the hillside are bluebell shoots, and I canβt wait for them to bloom.
A gnarly part of Oxfordshire woodland where sunlight casts in, creating stark contrast and turning the scene into a moody one.
Forest mood.
Thanks Armand!
Thanks so much! Who knew clouds could be so photogenic π
Views from above the clouds. Pastel colours at sunrise π
Old trees on a small hillside in Oxfordshire backed by beautiful sunrise light in misty conditions.
I ran around the woods like a headless chicken photographing βthe lightβ before work today with limited time. It was definitely worth it!
Sunbeams shine through beautiful beech and oak woodlands from Oxfordshire, England.
The light this morning was superb. Walking through old woodland with birds chirping, the bluebells & wild garlic shoots poking through, & the incredible smells of the forest waking up just cannot be beaten. It clears negative thoughts & fills me with joy. I hope this photo helps do that for you too.
Foggy woodlands from Oxfordshire England. An old gnarly oak stands in front of parallel pines.
One from this morning during some rather thick fog. The buds are on the trees ready to open now - it wonβt be long until the woodland transform into their springtime states. Iβm very excited for it!
Love it!
Huge congrats Christoph! It's a stunning capture, well done!
The layers during this misty sunrise were rather special.
Thank you Dani. Perhaps unsurprisingly, number 2 has won a couple of big awards for me. It was truly spectacular and I'm so glad I captured that moment.
Thanks Dave!

The long shadow by Christopher Harrison Brightwell Barrow, Oxfordshire, England
I captured these one year ago today on the 1st March 2025. One of my most memorable mornings out in nature, where the conditions and light combined into the most spectacular photographs. It still feels like yesterday.
Pine trees in the Cairngorms National Park shrouded in the clouds, moody and ethereal. Scotland photography.
Pines in the clouds.
Thank you!!
That's such a good point! How interesting.
One thing to mention - I actually didn't have a reference back for this - I just could remember the composition in my head π so I did my best and took a couple to ensure I got the angles right! But you're right, I should have just checked my digital copy!
Thanks Tim! I know it's basic, but I just find it so fascinating seeing the two side by side. It's just astonishing what our plantlife goes through. I'm glad you like it!
Autumn in an Oxfordshire beechwood.
Winter in an Oxfordshire beechwood.
This is NOT reimagined with AI. π€
This is a labour of love. Visiting the same woodlands three months apart to capture the stark transformation that unfolds. From colour and life to cold bare branches. This is autumn vs winter.
Which do you prefer?
Some mood from the Cairngorms National Park at sunrise. This forest is a remnant of the Caledonian Forest, so has remained untouched for millennia. Isnβt it pretty!

A misty frozen winter morning along the river Thames in Oxfordshire - England.
The kind of photograph I love taking. A frosty, misty morning with the sun kissing the top of the trees. Captured along the River Thames, Oxfordshire.
