Reminder that the Soviet government was the only government at the time trying to liberate women from domestic work by providing more domestic services on a socialized scale like worker canteens and kitchens etc

What's the purpose of saying that there's no position so extreme that someone could lose your vote? Especially this far out? You're effectively giving possible candidates the all clear to move as far right as they'd like. This seems foolish.

This thought experiment where the DNC chooses a candidate based on a negotiation with progressive commentators is fiction. I'm engaging with the grim reality of the American electorate.
Look who they just put into office again. No one's waiting on my permission to run.

Parker MolloyO@parkermolloy.com β€’ 18h That's a strawman. I wasn't arguing that the candidates sit down and negotiate with anyone before jumping in the race. I was making a point about the aggregate effect of publicly surrendering your conditions. Those are completely different claims.

The whole Democratic electability argument in 2016 and 2020 was built on the idea that who you nominate matters because swing voters have limits. Sanders would lose moderates, the argument went, so you've got to pick someone those voters won't reject.

Okay, so if voters having conditions and limits is a real thing that shapes how candidates behave... why would you publicly announce that you have zero conditions? You're telling every future candidate they don't need to do a single thing to earn your vote.

Parker Molloy O@parkermolloy.com β€’ 18h That's all I was saying. Not that candidates negotiates with commentators before running.
That when you broadcast "I'll take literally anyone," you've opted out of the one thing voters actually have: leverage.

A bit frustrating that I asked @contrapoints.bsky.social a straightforward question about the strategy of unconditionally pledging your support regardless of policy stances, she replied with a strawman, I called that out and elaborated on it, and she then responded to a bunch of people (but not me).

Congress Is Considering Abolishing Your Right to Be Anonymous Online The bipartisan push to remove anonymity from the internet is ushering in an era of unprecedented mass surveillance and censorship.

You should be able to criticize your government anonymously online.

Full stop.

"Age verification" legislation is just a pretty name for "forced online ID checks," meaning everything you post is associated with your government name

We have to stop this.

I had a productive meeting with President Trump this afternoon.

I’m looking forward to building more housing in New York City.

how to get rid of the trans women to break the back of a movement or committee's maintenance? just put them in jail en masse to v-code them. there is a long history of sexual violence targeting women & the gender marginalized to scorched-earth political opponents

i hope more people are aware that the mass targeting to remove trans people out of public life is both violence against an oppressed minority but also has a strongly political bent, since trans people are often integral members of liberal & leftist organizing institutions

the image is of Evangelion, specifically the elevator scene but now they're making out together. on the left, the girl with short blue hair is wearing a white shirt with blue overall style skirt and suspenders and the girl pressing her against the wall is wearing the exact same outfit. the girl pinning the girl with blue hair down is sporting long orange hair with a red watch and red bow in her hair. her eyes are closed as she embraces the other girl with her lips. the girl held against the wall looks shocked by is accepting her advance,,,

a big part of the reason we’re in this problem is that libs have essentially been able to abstract away all the bad stuff America has been doing for the past 80 years bc they were comfortable and never had to see it. they should be forced to watch

what normie liberals need to understand is that 2024 was a rejection of lesser evilism, and their continued support of a lesser evil will result in more of what we're now seeing.

what aspiring d politicians need to understand is we aren't doing lesser evil anymore, so you're gonna have to get good

For 248 years the streets of America didn’t feature a roving masked federal kidnapping squad that might send you a Central American death camp or just murder you themselves, but getting rid of it now is some impossible lefty fantasy that professional Democrats lamentably must struggle against.
