I think these two thoughts are entirely consistent.
The American people are facing hardships due to Trump’s policies. This will get far worse over the rest of his term.
The “we”, the Trump regime and his oligarchs, are wealthier than ever via cronyism, theft, and reduced tax far the uber rich.
Even better.
The White House expected an uprising in Iran. Instead, huge crowds are rallying behind the country’s new hardline Supreme Leader, blaming the U.S. for civilian deaths, including more than 160 children killed when a missile strike destroyed a girls’ school.
This is clearly fine with the GOP.

Russia has been sharing satellite imagery of U.S. warships and aircraft with Iran, helping Tehran target American forces.
Ukraine, in contrast, has deployed specialists and low-cost drone interceptors to help protect the U.S. and its allies.
