Marxism can still change the world
I have spent my life interpreting capitalism in order to build an alternative
This piece revisits Marx’s core ideas, breaking them down to reveal how individual capitalist pursuits exacerbate systemic instability, as competition drives labor productivity up while profitability falls.

I plainly got way too busy because I missed that @davidharvey.org -- whose regularly updated YouTube lecture series on reading Marx was essential to both me and hundreds of thousands of others finally grasping the material -- has a new book out. So looking forward to diving in.

A book for both Marxists and neoliberals to read.
My favorite quote from the book by Polanyi: True freedom begins when we step away from the market economy-
Wishing everyone a relaxing post-work life from the 7th day of the Lunar New Year.
• The author, David Harvey, is a Marxist, so he doesn't hesitate to praise the great achievements of his motherland.
• He dedicates a significant portion of the book to interpreting neoliberalism, adopting a relatively subjective and negative stance, which is quite comforting.
•Throughout the book, he constantly quotes Marx's views and *Das Kapital*, which is immensely helpful for understanding Marxism.
• He summarizes and makes predictions about the global and Chinese economies, which are not entirely accurate but highly enlightening.
•He provides interpretations of neoliberalism, Keynesianism, Marxism, neoclassical economics, and more, serving a clear educational purpose.
I highly recommend this book; the translation is very accessible and easy to understand. #reading

Marxism can still change the world
I have spent my life interpreting capitalism in order to build an alternative
Problems have solutions. Contradictions do not. They are permanent points of tension that can only be managed within the system in which they are embedded. They only go away when the system as a whole disappears.

James Folta, Lit Hub, Most Anticipated Books of 2026:
"Harvey’s ability to entangle the dense work and make it legible is unparalleled, and I’m looking forward to this new book about Marx’s influential economic text, and what Harvey has to teach about its lessons."
