This is so much more insulting than just having your camera off. I visited a SaaS company's website and their demos had a little poorly lipsynced AI person in the corner of their product demo videos and I came a way with such a worse impression than if the product demos just had no people.

I admire Proton's commitment to privacy and encryption, but it is not practical for me. I want my family to be able to use iOS Mail, I want to be able to put my calendar up on my TRMNL smart display, etc. etc. I want industry standard protocols, not being locked into Proton's proprietary apps.
I just moved my whole family to fastmail and more spam and scams get through their filters than with gmail. That combined with having to click the arrow next to “Microsoft” to see the “fbwmeixuh@2dnwis.biz” email address I think is going to result in a lot more “this real?” forwards from my parents.
