Spent the last few days working on a mesh feature for Cavalry. It's already very fun, and super useful. This will be in the 2.4 beta within the next couple of weeks.
It's an SkSL Blender - I can DM or email you an example if you'd like.
Ahh - weβre using Skia as our renderer which specifically supports this workflow.
Sounds like a fun one to solve! π
If Iβm remembering correctly it was pretty simple, the blend mode got the luminance of the background and then gave us a contrasting light or dark output - the result was a readable text colour for any random background colour.
We hit this a couple of years back and had to βinventβ a custom blend mode, mad that it isnβt standard.

I use the OED app, it works offline and has a built in thesaurus, and does American English as well via an extra download. It has favourites too which I use constantly. I used to use Dictionary.com - thatβs also pretty good but quite noisy these days. I never got on with Merriam-Webster.
Spent a bit of time this week adding multiple viewport support to @cavalryapp.bsky.social, it means you can see two compositions at the same time which will reduce the amount of jumping between comps.
It's an interesting challenge working out how to represent some of the features like Random, at the moment the bars here represent some sample random numbers, which is useful when using the graph like this to 'bias' the Random numbers (mostly low, with a few very high random numbers).
I've slowly been adding live previews to the @cavalryapp.bsky.social Attribute Editor, it'll make editing shaders and effects layered in stacks much easier.
Oh man, those videos were butchered π
This one shows the underlying Pre-Comp that's powering it, just a Noise Shader and some blurred text.
I spent yesterday afternoon down an isolines rabbit hole. Fun stuff. This may well end up in a @cavalryapp.bsky.social update later in the year.
