Took a “Know Your Rights” training this wknd to help protect our immigrant friends and neighbors. Find one and take it. DHS sent “it’s time to leave” notices to lots of immigrants and also us citizens. HHS tried to take immigrant kids out of LA schools, claiming a “welfare check.” #WeKeepUsSafe
A lot more staff took the Deferred Resignation/Early retirement this time around— it was re-offered the week of 7 April . I’m hearing ~ 11,000 for Army. No numbers yet for Civil Works (Corps of engineers) but I know 6 colleagues in my immediate circle. I am still here.

The Black struggle against racism is central to the story of The United States. His attempt to expunge this story -
under the guise of extinguishing “DEI” - represents an attempt to erase Blackness itself. News accounts that parrot his propaganda aid and abet this crime.
At first I thought this picture and post were about Israeli prisons and how the US sanctions and pays for the genocide of Palestinians. Perhaps it is not so shocking *after all that we are funding the dehumanization and maltreatment of others as well.

Commissary funds for incarcerated folx (esp trans rolls), gofundmes for families in Gaza, Native American health clinics, orgs that directly serve refugees and Asylees, bail funds for protestors, folkx advocating for ppl with disabilities (especially queer trans and BIPOC disabled folx)… ❤️🩹✊🏽
I can try to look up specific orgs if you shout your area. But generally I’d look for:
Mutual aid groups, free health clinics, local abortion funds, community fridges, local orgs that buy tents and coats and meals for people experiencing homelessness, food banks, community kitchens
Once again for the people back, None of us are free until All of us are free.
For folks out there putting tons of energy into hating the current admin, I encourage you to take a break today and put that energy (or donation if you are able!) into a local org that is providing lifelines for the folks most impacted but this scary stuff. If you need tips, just ask here.
One thing I wish people understood about authoritarianism is life often looks more or less the same. Troops aren’t marching down the street every day; people go to restaurants, have their office jobs. But everyone knows that stepping out of line, even slightly, can derail your life with no recourse

Good question! Tho We don’t know yet how many reductions we’ll see at usace. The 23,000 number is for Army Civilians and no additional details yet. I agree with you though- The impact on our waterways and communities would be large!
