Weird that the folks in our government who like to start these wars always assume we’re going to be “greeted as liberators” when that’s pretty much never happened in any of the circumstances where we pull this bullshit.

It would be great if we had a functional congress so folks wouldn’t have to use elections in states they don’t understand local politics in as a proxy for everything systemic we’re not even attempting to solve yet.

Decide which state election you want it to be about, I can think of at least five.

When I was first learning to drive in the 90s, I lived in Oregon. (Which admittedly has a different set of pricing factors that currently make their gas cheaper than Washington.)

I remember gas then around $1.25/gal. Considering inflation, think about how cheap our gas is now 30 years later.

Living in Washington state and Seattle in particular, I’m blinking a lot at the folks in the rest of the country with “higher gas prices” that are still less than average gas prices here.

(Our normal prices are high due to our regressive tax structure, supply constraints, and environmental policy.)
