It is shocking, but also exactly how social media works. I like and value the work of @atrupar.com but brief summaries are often all readers ingest or react to. Modern social media consumers thrive in a space of no-context hot takes, not baseline, much less deep, understanding of what they see.

There are some people on this site who see Trump as a reason to hate their country. But I hate Trump because I love my country.

Most Americans trust leaders of all stripes too much or don’t have the knowledge and resources to protect their own rights. The degradation of unions is not only about a single job or sector, it’s about stopping The People from using our collective power, just one more way that power is sucked away.

Companies rely on workers not being prepared for wrongful termination. They assume (correctly) that workers haven’t documented the facts, and will act out of a state of shock and fear when pressured to sign documents that waive their rights. They bank on our ignorance and cultivated vulnerability.

Today, I learned that my 2018 layoff from Starbucks included a severance agreement which I was pressured to sign under what appears to have been legal duress. Had I consulted with a lawyer immediately after signing, I could have had time to possibly rescind the agreement and sue the company.

Does this dynamic apply only to authoritarian leaders or to the authoritarian followers as well? Always curious about the mindset of authoritarianism as it manifests in populations.

Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio meets with Secretary Rubio

Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio meets with Secretary Rubio

Enrique Tarrio and other Proud Boys were convicted of seditious conspiracy. Trump pardoned them.

Tarrio and his men planned the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Tarrio even claimed credit for it, messaging others: β€œMake no mistake…We did this…”

Now he’s meeting with Sec. Rubio.

We wanted to know what will happen next in Iran. So we talked to three Joe Rogan fans at an Arby's in Harrisburg.

I think reports of MAGA revolt coming from left-leaning media are almost always grossly overblown. They seem tuned for liberal hopium clicks rather than reality.

Note: Rs in Congress are voting against AUMF because they're not being pressured by constituents. R *voters* are not in revolt over Iran.

Trump ties Iran strikes to claims that Tehran interfered in U.S. elections President Donald Trump suggested Saturday that his military strike against Iran may have been driven in part by claims that the country interfered in the last two U.S. presidential elections.

There are countless hot takes out there. I think Marc Elias has proven his credibility and this makes more sense than any other theory of the Iran attack. It’s one more angle on his quest to retain power, and thereby dodge accountability for his many crimes.

I’m not wild about the broad, generic misapplication of the term, β€œenshittification,” which means something specific.

Its use here is totally appropriate and very smartly spelled out. Very impressed with this piece.

I apologize for my candor in your replies but fuck CBS.

We need journalism, but nobody should stick to any platform that has transitioned to propaganda, soft or hard. CBS is no longer a source of journalism.
