Last month I was swept up in ForeFlight's massive layoffs. I wrote about my experiences with AI in software development, what I think this means for the future, and why I have concerns.

It's truly unbelievable how buggy #iOS 26 is. Live Activities are broken. Apple Home is broken. App icons are broken. iMessage is broken. Liquid Glass is 🤷🏻‍♂️. Widgets are broken.

Basically nothing is stable in this release. #Apple

Six iPhone apps now supported The slow data speed means that it is only suitable for a relatively small number of apps, but the company has promised to continue expanding those supported. This is incorrect. WhatsApp is also a supported app.

I'm still skeptical about this feature. I'm not sure it's going to work well in practice. The idea is sound, but there are already problems with call center representatives hanging up on customers too often. Won't this just make that problem worse?

The time between the call center representative stopping talking and the pre-recorded message about notifying the caller is significant in my opinion.

When the call is no longer on hold, it is just silence, and when the call center representative says something, that clip gets transcribed, and they will hear a message that says “This message has been transcribed. One moment while I notify the caller.” Then it is silence.

After asking it to add debug logs and reproducing it, it solved it instantly.

If AI coding isn't working for you, take a step back and ask yourself: what context is the AI missing to solve this?

My use case: I was trying to work with this intermittent issue that wasn't possible (or easy) to reproduce in an integration test. The AI kept making changes that just weren't correct and weren't solving the problem. Even with high thinking mode.

Pro #AI #Coding Tip: Describe the bug you're trying to solve, ask AI to add extra debug logs to help it troubleshoot, then tell the AI you will reproduce the issue and share the logs with it to help it solve the bug.

Even tho I'm a huge #Apple fan. This is one of the most disappointing #WWDC events I can remember.

AI coding agents (GitHub Copilot Coding Agent, Codex, etc.) seem really bad at formatting code. It's the spaces vs tabs debate, remixed for the AI era.

TIL: You can right click (or press and hold on mobile) the copy button in ChatGPT and "Copy as Markdown". Why don't all AI clients do this?

After reading all the news about #OpenAI's new 4.1 model, I still don't understand why its API is only.

The #iMessage #spam has really gotten out of control recently. Surprised that no one is talking about this more. #Apple #iPhone

This account has zero trust at this point. It's not linked on the DPD website. There seemingly haven't been any press releases about this new account. The only evidence we have is this account telling us that it's official. Any fraudulent account can say that. (1/2)

For #AI applications that allow multiple model selection, I wish they'd offer functionality to run a query on multiple models so you can compare and contrast the results to determine which is best for the given use case. I never know which AI model to pick anymore. 😅

💯. Honestly once you use Copilot, there is no going back. That is how amazing it is. It's hands down the best AI product today. Our industry has a long way to go in terms of integrating AI into useful products, but GitHub Copilot is already there.
