If I buy tomatoes, I never end up eating them in time.
If I don't buy tomatoes, I end up craving caprese salad at 2:30 a.m.
In the wikipedia image, is "pitsa's" meant to be "pizzas" or "pitas" or something else?
OMG there is so much beauty in this picture!
I just saw someone post a screenshot of their own post without alt text and...why???
!!
I would have guessed it's Chow's campaign running all these "Olivia Chow vs. unpleasant right-wing dude" polls, to create the impression that Olivia Chow is the only option if you don't want an unpleasant right-wing dude
This makes me realize it's multiple simultaneous violations of consent.
I do not consent to my work being used to train AI.
I do not consent to AI in my software.
I do not consent to using my computer's resources to power unwanted AI.
I do not consent to the extra labour needed to clean up after AI
(Which was quite the multi-year power struggle, because my parents didn't just shrug their shoulders and say "Okay". Highlights include not eating dinner on Sundays at all and refusing my xmas presents.)
But I found my parents' putting on a show with saying grace before Sunday dinner so repulsive that I decided I myself wasn't going to put on a show, and stopped all performance of religion.
I myself was also putting on a show to impress god as I went through the motions of religion!
I didn't have Faith, which they had emphasized in catechism class was The Most Important Thing. I was just mindlessly following the steps, because that's what you're supposed to do
So I thought and thought and thought about this. As I was walking to school. As I was lying in bed waiting to fall asleep. As I was sitting in church zoning out while the priest gave the homily.
And I came to the realization:
And surely any competent deity could see through that! And surely trying to deceive god like that is what got you sent to hell!
I didn't feel good about being a part of it.
Why just dinner? Why just Sundays? If saying grace is important, why hadn't we always been doing that? If saying grace is important, why didn't my parents say grace when they sat down for a quick bite alone?
It seemed like they were trying to put on a show to impress god
When I was 10 years old, my parents came up with a new rule: we're going to say grace (a prayer of thanks for a meal) before dinner on Sundays.
And that made no sense to me.
The similarity of the dishes makes me think it might be an ingredient, but I've never smelled this in the Farm Boy linguine before!
On the off-chance anyone has the answer: the dish was herbed linguine from Farm Boy, and today it had the smell that I find yucky in Butter & Herb flavoured Knorr Sidekicks.
I really wish we had a search engine for smells. I just reheated a supermarket prepared food I've had many times before, and this time it smells wrong. And I can't tell if something went bad, or they changed the ingredients, or something else.
Is there a way to search the gift article feed? bsky.app/profile/davi...
And if we make our coffee at home, then they try to force us to needlessly work in-office because not enough people are spending money downtown.
I think this is about the temperature but honestly it works for decades as well
If everything was from Eve's POV, I would never stop worrying that Roarke wasn't actually safe. (And if everything was from Roarke's POV, it would be a completely different story because Eve is the one solving mysteries)
For example, in the In Death series, Roarke (male lead) didn't seem like a safe partner for Eve (female lead) until a few scenes showed his POV, actual emotions, etc.
(Note: this series has been running for 30+ years and not every aspect of every book stands up to the test of time)
This is interesting to me, because I find that, in the romance genre specifically, third person allows for multiple characters' perspectives, which can better convey that the romance is safe.
Awww, the magic beans!! ๐ญ I'm so glad they're together!
I do miss the thing where Windows would give you a notification that the time had just changed
I stepped back from news consumption after the contents of the epstein emails started invading my dreams - I guess I need to recalibrate a bit
