I've had 1 interview in the past 6 months & didn't get either position I applied for. If I wasn't an IHSS provider for family I'd be homeless right now.

In California, a law was passed last year that made it a requirement for potential school employees to disclose both their former employers, & former legal names. While this was put in place to prevent abusers from being hired, it's made it nearly impossible to find a job.

Blue states don't protect trans people. When I requested a transfer to a different school in the same district, something that my coworkers were able to do & was offered to me by a teacher wanting to work with me directly, the district ghosted & blacklisted me when they saw my updated ID information
