I held the job for a very short time. From 2004-2005. I talked with Licensing a lot, and helped game teams navigate feedback and avoid no-go areas, while also giving occasional ideas for places they could explore more.

Did you know falconry was one of few medieval sports that both men & women were welcome to participate in? Peregrine falcons were a popular bird for ladies because they're small. Also, they apparently hunt by PUNCHING OTHER BIRDS OUT OF THE SKY WITH THEIR CLOSED FISTS.

My guess is that current games industry turmoil is the result of 3 factors:
1.) the "new console" eco-system hit by asteroid
2.) fantasizing with billions about a genre that could not expand
3.) fail-upwards exec trajectories

at one point, I contacted them to help improve their search and writer evaluation process-- and I heard nothing back. They don't wanna change. 😔
