OPI to open the game? nigga when does baseball start
phone be dry and dead, but the minute you wanna screen record something funny, now you getting 100 notifications.
like cuz iโm not finna be going back & forth with you, or anybody because I got other shit to do then to have online debates over โwelllll aaasssshctusllyyyโ I said what i said, and iโm standing on the shit. even if itโs not technically the 20th, the effect of the situation mirrors Reganโs.
weโre ignoring the fact that this whole tik tok debacle has been centered around the president-elect who hasnโt been officially sworn in, not one mention of the current administration that is still in charge until tomorrow at noon?
so weโre ignoring the fact the backdoor deal that was made to get them released officially on inauguration day wasnโt planned, in advance that somehow as Regan got sworn in, at noon in 1981 and magically he was the missing equation to do what President Carter couldnโt do?
are we really playing semantics? iโm aware they were released at noon on inauguration day. this is the day before the inauguration, the app been referring to it as all his doing despite not being sworn in yet, Biden is still president, yet itโs all been โtrumpโ all over this. Are we doing this fr?
Trump got his โRegan freed the hostagesโ moment as I told niggas.
lmao so many people irl cussed me out yesterday because i told them this is all a stunt.
didnโt even last a full 24 hours. go outside yโall.
Thereโs no need to shut down the propaganda machines that are already working. To me, the right is just super triggered that the younger generation can easily fight their bullshit on the one app they couldnโt control. So when they โsaveโ tik tok the uninformed will just blame the left like always.
I just want all of these apps to be held fully accountable for the destruction their algorithms have unleashed globally on numerous countries, politically and socially. But the problem is, the oneโs we have here Meta/X are already in bed with the right.
For every good content creator out there making genuinely good, safe, or informative content, thereโs also the bad ones. Exploitative family channels, Ragebait content, Gender Wars podcasts, Pranking non consenting strangers in public. conspiracy content etc. Itโs nuanced.
I donโt think itโs healthy to only find happiness through others online. Social media is a tool thereโs good, and thereโs bad to it. I feel for those who lost everything, but, even then itโs nuanced because Iโm sure thereโs some truly shitty people who made money from exploitative content too.
I would be a bit distraught too if I overnight lost everything, but iโm not referring to those understandable cases. Iโm more concerned with those who have these super unhealthy parasocial relationships with content creators who base their whole personality, and life around them.
Parents need to parent more, but anecdotally speaking iโve worked at a few schools that allowed screen time as an incentive for good behavior to bribe disruptive or aggressive students, which is far from okay.
Itโs just a symptom of the overall screen time problem the youth is facing. A lot of the problematic behaviors I deal with at my job are because children are repeating insanely inappropriate behaviors they see constantly online, mostly either tik tok or youtube are the main offenders.
To further elaborate on the crash out behavior stuff, without giving up too much specifics I work within Education. I feel itโs a bit concerning weโre having a staff meeting at my job next week to discuss how to potentially handle student behavior over this.
I feel like there needs to be a national data privacy protection law, the odds of that passing however with this upcoming administration is as likely as myself winning the office when iโm 35, and eligible to run..Thatโs assuming we still have fair and free elections by then; but I digress.
Iโm also a fan of civil debates, so I appreciate the opportunity to elaborate my viewpoint further. I wholeheartedly agree that there is a massive red flag with the hypocrisy regarding how we handle domestic apps, data privacy, the handling of data leaks etc.
Is this a major loss in free speech? yes. but this in my opinion this is performative theater for trump, to get his whole โRegan freed the Iran hostageโ moment. Gen Alpha can start voting in 2028, those who are young, impressionable, addicted to these platforms will remember this in 2028.
donโt want to go on a longer than already tangent, but I just canโt get down with enabling crash out behavior over losing an app when censorship is vastly worse in other countries with less freedoms, countries that have to use Tor, or VPNโs for everything online, and are actively facing persecution.
I donโt see Discord, Reddit Snapchat, or Kik getting this type of energy or smoke with the amount of grooming that is facilitated on their platforms. Youtube with their crazy ass AI ads. I just donโt get down with selective outrage, I have my criticism for every platform.
Iโm not celebrating or advocating anybody to lose their income, or community. However, it just confuses me i didnโt see a third of this energy when meta got rid of fact checking, or that some people willingly still use twitter which is a hate platform at this point.
Yes, I wasnโt really trying to dismiss the loss of income or community, I can understand that can be tough for anybody. Just, with declining literacy & the rise in doomscrolling on these apps that are moving further to the right wing side, some individuals need the unfortunately forced upon break.
uncle Bernie, Katt & Eddie griffin
I get all of that, I personally feel like some individuals have a very unhealthy relationship with social media usage to the point where a discussion around the addiction aspect of ANY app regardless of who owns it should be had. Iโm talking niggas with a internet addiction, hence why i said โSomeโ
some of yโall sounding like you finna be out here sucking dick for VPN money to get back on your crack app
this skeet turned my phone into a bean pie
