More to the point though in this metaphor where you're getting a potentially-infected scrape at work, we are living in the pre-germ-theory age of AI. We are aware that it might be dangerous sometimes, but we don't know to whom or why. We are attempting to combat miasma with bloodletting right [β¦]

Like, it's not enough for them to say, OK, here are our roots/influences, let's keep what's good and try to grow past what's bad. Somehow our history - or more specifically their narrow view of it - has to be better than everyone else's, including our own present.
I also vaguely recall one where the lead is trying to sabotage a pre-Columbian Chinese expedition to the west coast of North America. The stories about preserving the Rome/Europe dominated timeline hit a bit differently now that I've read more widely, and seen who today is _really_ invested in [β¦]
I think I read this one. It's probably in the Time Patrol collection I read way back when. The bit I remember most was from (probably) a different story, in which the lead character travels back to watch the massive waterfall of Gibraltar as the Atlantic pours into the Mediterranean basin.
Screenshot of a summary about the Poul Anderson short story "Delenda Est" (as in "Carthago delenda est") describing it as an "1855 short story by Poul Anderson" though at least it got his name right and correctly identifies it as part of his "Time Patrol" series. The 1955 publication date is correct in the longer part of the summary.
I searched for a Latin phrase to check its spelling (as one does) and found the DDG summary of a Wikipedia article was...a bit confused.
Though I suppose if any short story is going to have been written before its author was born, it should be a [β¦]
