The question isnβt what the Ellisons will do with Paramount and WBD, but who will acquire those assets at fire-sale prices when their AI synergy narrative can no longer provide cloud cover for their pair of overleveraged legacy media companies.
The key thing here is wait and see what the consequences of blindly accepting AI code with little or no reviewing and testing will be.
My gut feeling is that the companies embracing this will end up buried under a pile of tech debt and undecipherable code.
Both the US Domestic Fracking oil industry and Russia should be pretty happy about it, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Part 1/2 of a 4-panel SMBC comic update. The first panel shows the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella in a room with a pumpkin on a dresser. The Fairy Godmother says "and with my magic, Cinderella, that pumpkin will turn into a carriage when the sun sets." Intrigued, Cinderella asks "wait. So... Tonight... That pumpkin suddenly expands to twenty times it's size?" When the Fairy Godmother replies yes, Cinderella continues "and then at midnight it shrinks back and just looks like pumpkin? Like regular old pumpkin. Like anyone who saw it would say 'that's just a pumpkin?'" The fairy Godmother inquires "right. Why?"
Part 2/2 of a 4-panel SMBC comic update. In the final panel, Cinderella is insistingly serving roast squash to her step family, saying "have some more roast squash, beloved stepmother." With the stepmother replying "Oh, maybe just one more bite."
Actually there's probably a medieval German version that makes this one look pleasant.

I need every single male artist that follows me to read this. It's not very long. You need to bear witness to this shit. You have to see it with your own eyes because you never will in your everyday life.
I'm serious, read it all please
I can believe that it can deliver results pretty fast. But can it handle increasing complexity on this own?
This kind of reminds me of when Ruby On Rails was supposed to end Java.
When I use it like this it saves ME some time. But overall the time it takes from planning to production stayed the same, it's only that some of the load was taken away from my back.
I often see myself writing the bulk of the implementation, and only asking Claude to fill in the gaps and write tests because I absolutely don't trust it's capacity of understanding the whole.
More than one time it produces gems like tests with only mocks that tested nothing of the real code.
Working on an existing, very complex codebase, I can say with some confidence that I spend much more time understanding requirements and planning changes than actually writing code.
Claude can be a bit of help, but it can't figure out what to do from the specs alone.

Internet connectivity in Iran is now in a near-complete shutdown, down about 98% vs the previous week. The disruption began around 07:00 UTC, following reports of military strikes β and in past incidents the government has responded with nationwide Internet shutdowns.

Had the same issue with Forza 5. Solution was to remove 2FA from my account, and launch the game in desktop mode to authenticate.
This reminds me of how the Western world handed over all their manufacturing to China.
How's that going?
Thing about software development is, writing code isn't the valuable part. Domain and business knowledge is.
Are companies really going to lock away a good chunk of the knowledge necessary to run and evolve their operations behind a subscription?
