Underdog Coffee and Bread out in VA is expanding, though I don’t know they have any aspirations to move into the city yet. The Carlin Springs location will be their second. I hope you get a good shop moving in soon!

Two miniatures from star wars legion. Din Jarin shooting from the hip and Grogu chomping a frog.

My first attempt at doing Non-metallic metals. I don't know if I really got close to the intended 'illusion' but I still like how it turned out.

It does. You need to type in the full name sometimes because it doesn’t find it on a seemingly likely partial search like “hardspace”.

Florida’s got swamps. Bogs tend to be northern.

I remember the big survey of Eagle Scouts and Scoutmasters they did some years back and, if I’m not misremembering, the outcome of that was that gay scouts would be allowed but there was no change to the prohibition on leaders. I’m glad they’ve continued making progress in that front!

Yep. It’s this. A major factor in Mormon troops leaving was the relaxing of some of the most regressive policies to boot gay youth. (IIRC the policy to bar LGBT leadership has endured, but you probably have better insight than me, an Eagle Scout who has not returned as an adult because of all this.)

People miss that the risk of doing that vastly exceeds any benefit. One whistleblower leads to a lawsuit, probably as a class action, which means discovery, which turns up two sets of books. Now they’re looking at significant civil damages as well as individual executive criminal liability.

The Emperor’s Soul is probably my favorite of Sanderson’s novellas. It’s excellent on its own footing but it’s also one of the more significant pieces of larger Cosmere tapestry without bothering to announce itself as such.

That’s Keigo Higashino, not Keith. Autocorrect did a number on the name.

Caught up with my pace for my annual goal in February. This doesn’t reflect one DNF: The Final Curtain by Keith Higashino. #BookSky

I’m not sure that “sometimes it’s not insider trading” is a compelling rejection of the supposition that it is an insider trading platform.

For English-speaking audiences, I did a little research here. The Clock House Murders novel seems to be getting an English translation in July 2026. The show just released on Hulu Japan and I don’t see any chatter about English subtitles or availability as yet.

…best way to preserve or gain the opportunities to serve its youth programs.

I, as an Eagle Scout, think they’ve fallen fall short of the organization’s own values and compromised too much for too little.

This erases the meager progress the org had made since the bad Bush years.

…they’ve shuttered the camp and sold the property.

Undoubtedly, the US Government is providing some kind of valuable resource to the org that this kleptocratic administration threatened. Scouting isn’t eager to kowtow to demands like this, but wouldn’t hesitate to do so if it felt that was the…

I haven’t been involved for 26 years but what I saw was this: Scouting is a lightweight org with a very small number (for its perceived size) of full-time employees. It’s a tremendous amount of volunteer work. The money creates opportunities though. The upstate NY council where I was a Boy Scout…

…to maintain the gender separation in their respective orgs. This wasn’t because of “woke” or “DEI” but money. Without all those Mormon troops, Scouting was in trouble and had to start stealing Girl Scouts lunch money.

Scouting America (formerly the Boy Scouts) and Girl Scouts are entirely distinct orgs.
What’s happened here recently is that the Mormons exited BSA en masse for some new organization. So BSA became Scouting America and opened its doors to girls despite longstanding agreement with the Girl Scouts…

It is not a religious organization, but many troops are individually sponsored by religious institutions.

Hobby Time Lapse - Shatterpoint Build: General Skywalker, Captain Rex, and 501st Legion Clone Troops YouTube video by Eric Kolb

I’ve started recording my #hobby and #MiniaturePainting work with the intention of finding new ways to share hobby joy. I’ve got a lot to learn but this feels like a pretty good start.
I wanted a no-speech video with a (royalty-free) lofi vibe. Hope you like it.

Here's how much athletes make for medaling at the Winter Olympics in 35 countries and territories Reaching the podium at the Winter Olympics means medals, fame, and for dozens of countries and territories, cash. Here's the breakdown.

The cash award is from the athletes’ own nation, not the IOC. Not every nation does this. It all depends on how much the country values victory.
