16 years since Canada ratified the UN CRPD.
Today marks 16 years since Canada ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Inclusion Canada will continue to work to ensure that Canada fully implements the #CRPD and delivers on equality and inclusion. It requires sustained leadership, accountability and action.

Inclusion Canada staff is honouring #PinkShirtDay!
To help raise awareness about anti-bullying initiatives, people throughout Canada are being encouraged to show unity and wear a pink shirt on the last Wednesday of February, and this year marks the 19th anniversary.

Our fifth federal priority is to stop Track 2 & the 2027 expansion to MAiD.
The expansion to include mental illness as sole underlying condition must be stopped. The UN called on Canada in March to address barriers that drive PWD to request MAID.

Our fourth federal priority is supporting families.
Families face about $10,000 per year in extra costs raising a child with a disability. The CDB needs to be increased & our early learning and childcare system does not yet ensure inclusion.

Our third federal priority is employment transformation.
Thousands of people with intellectual disabilities remain in segregated "sheltered employment," working for little or no pay in special settings, while employers report labour shortages.

Federal housing dollars still fund congregate, segregated models that isolate people with disabilities and violate Canada's obligations under the UN CRPD.
