The rest of the way to the stairs is filled with idle chatter. Llewellyn assures Bob that his friend probably just evacuated to the warrens without him and she’s probably worried. Once they get to the entrance to the stairs, Llewellyn sighs. “Ait, I gotta finish this patrol then. Catch up with you later?” He asks. “See you ‘round.” Bob replies, much more at ease than earlier. Bob turns to the stairs and is met with a sight that drags his mood all the way back down. Security stairs. One of the security features of a slime hive dungeon. Irregularly spaced, bowl shaped and slippery, slime stairs are meant to be impossible to traverse for most non-slimes. Trouble is, Slimes don’t like them either. Rainslimes have dedicated military access tunnels carved just for them. The network for how they are laid out is not shared with anyone who lacks clearance, such as Jesticulator slime agents. Jesticulators themselves tend to use their tentacles to grapple up, bypassing having to hop from bowl to bowl. Gloopers avoid the steps entirely with their ability to stick to and climb the walls. So Goobers, like Bob, are left with the short stick. “Aw bollocks.” Bob curses under his breath as he stares up at the daunting vertical stretch of security stairs that seem to go on forever.

Sentinels of the Starry Skies. I completed it twice and then a 3rd time with hacks to cut the grind out so I could see what characters with every vocation maxed out would be like. They could have beat the final boss and a bunch of the more difficult grottos naked.

Bob wonders if he should run, he can see the gears turning in the stranger’s head. It looks like he just might start steaming like an engine. Bob takes one small shuffle backwards. The stranger sees Bob shuffle and quickly starts talking. “Guess we doin’ small horns now.” he says in a friendly tone. “So first off-” The stranger continues, “I would avoid going in there, mun.” He gestures to the cavern leading to the Rainslimes and the monster. “Follow me.” Bob walks with this slime, at least for now, until he gets a chance to slip away quietly. Except the old slime keeps talking! “Ok so everything’s on lockdown until the Rainslimes can deal with those ‘orrible monsters.” He explains.

Checking back in an hour to see what people post, as I've yet to master this.
Right now I'm trying to paint directly as much as possible but sometimes I will still use a 'hard light' layer to paint shadows in and add subsurface as a flat colour from my palette glazed on where needed.

I don't think I've ever read any fiction like that so you can count me interested.

He shies away. “My friend…” he blurts out before too much time passes. “Want me to help you find ‘em?” Is the slime’s almost immediate response. “No…” Bob’s mouth moves before his brain. The stranger narrows his eyes, re-evaluating Bob. Bob looks normal enough, maybe the face is a little unfamiliar. Wait, the slime horns? Slimes have tube shaped horns that are sensitive to vibration. Bob’s horns, however, are somewhat diminutive. More like little bear ears. The stranger takes a deep breath, not hiding his suspicion. “Why are yer horns so small, buht?” he asks. Bob holds back the panic and forces a smile. If he had human organs, his heart would be in his throat right now. “I’m new?” Bob blurts out, again, just before too long of a pause. He meant it as a statement, but it came out kind of sounding like a question too. The stranger is now just plain confused. He’s an older slime, been around a while, been to many different slime hive dimensions. He thinks back to a time when some of the older Rainslimes had four horns, but were changed with later generations. This slime in front of him? Young. Couldn’t be that far over 20. Bob wonders if he should run, he can see the gears turning in the stranger’s head. It looks like he just might start steaming like an engine. Bob takes one small shuffle backwards.
