Sad to hear that Rob Grant has died. I was a huge Red Dwarf fan between the ages of 10 and 14.
A few years ago, he got in touch asking if I could redesign his website. I was a pro in my emails but added a coda saying I was a fan of RD. He never got back to me.

Internet scrapbook @are.na commissioned a "revival" of the Arial typeface for their website. The changes are subtle, but beautiful to see.

Front cover of A Bad Bad Place showing black dog, blue swirls and punk font.
Publication day for A BAD BAD PLACE. Feel like an anxious mum at school gate. Good luck wee book, hope you make a friend. Donβt lose your lovely jacket.
Congratulations. What a fantastic cover.
Sadly not the new pantheon but 'selected using an "anonymous randomised selection process" to give every applicant "an equal chance of selection".'
Presumably they didn't sell it, given the gallery just went into administration. www.theartnewspaper.com/2026/02/04/s...
It is difficult to imagine it as something other than a theatre/gallery/venue/cinema.
But if it had to change, maybe the high ceiling of the courtyard could be a climbing centre.
One thing that is clear from the article above is how important it was to have wide roads, even when they weren't needed. Interesting to see how such things have changed cycling infrastructure.

Whatever you think about the future of cities, this post about the expansion of Victorian cities is absolutely thrilling.

The idea of βreforming the House of Lordsβ has become a memetic shorthand for Labourβs uselessness over time. The HoL now seems like a sort of Democracy Black Hole where the chumocracy consigns their cronies for eternity.'
For Jo Spence, it wasnβt enough to be reconciled with the world; the point was to change it.

Sophie Calle is known for making elusive, seductive artworks about her life. But it can be difficult to know what happened when. This week, I played detective and attempted to create a definitive timeline:

It's deeply weird that Scotrail and Glasgow Subway both still use X for real time travel info.
There isn't even a public feed for X! At least, not officially.
However, it is possible to see what is happening via Xcancel:
