Since I had relatively minimal obligations for the month, or so I thought, I would set aside time for a home residency. I first did this a year ago: if & when I have the great luck of a stretch of days or weeks to myself, I follow most of the rules I observe at an artists’ residency. I turn ascetic. I tell friends I can’t hang out for a while & explain why.

for over 3 weeks, I've spoken to ICE watchers and organizers across the country: first right after Renee Good's killing — then 2 weeks into my reporting, Alex Pretti was killed.

ICE watchers are being detained and harassed — but they're also stopping ICE abductions and inspiring others to join them

It's near-white out conditions in Chicago as the snow comes down, and tonight's anti-ICE/CBP rally is wrapping up in front of city hall.

But not before the crowd bounces and chants, "I believe that we will win!"

one of the agents said “okay we know” when we were whistling so i leaned in and whistled louder and he threatened to pepper spray me. i then said “are you scared of a fucking whistle dawg” and he very meekly said “no i’m not scared of a whistle”

just saw 4 ice agents go up to a house and knock and within 1 minute there were 30 people out whistling and they left. we will not take our foot off the gas
