I will be making the BBC Radio 4 Appeal on behalf of Village Water. A small charity that helps people in rural areas of Mozambique & Zambia get reliable access to clean water.
As their ambassador all I can say is, it takes a village to raise a child and we can all be part of a global villageπ©΅

A greenhouse on an allotment, fully covered in insulating bubble wrap to retain warmth during the winter months. Inside, the space is prepped for protecting cuttings from frost and creating a sheltered environment for early seed sowing in the new growing season.
Greenhouse scrubbed, soil replaced with well-rotted manure, compost and topsoil. Bubble wrap added to insulate and keep cuttings warm. Early seeding starts in January. The 2026 kitchen garden is already in motion. #GreenHeart π

A macro photo of a weevil, in profile, upper left in the frame atop a fuzzy gray-green leaf. The weevil is orange with a coating of sparse yellow hairs, some of which are dense enough to form spots.
Apropos of nothing in particular, here is a very small weevil posing majestically. (Brazil)

Oval silver piece, pierced for suspension. Obverse: within an elaborate border of scrollwork and floral garlands, Apollo with a sunburst round his head, sitting on a cloud, holding a harp. Reverse: within a simple scrollwork border, a name engraved in script (here, Lord Herbert). Lord Herbert is likely to be the amateur architect who succeeded as 9th Earl of Pembroke in 1733, which helps with dating (c1730?). Other known pieces are for Thomas Wynne Esq and the Earl of De Lorain [Delorain].
Can anyone identify this badge, ticket or pass? Similar to the season's tickets for Vauxhall Gardens, but perhaps for members of a musical society (c1730?). With Timothy Millett, London #c18th #c18 #18thc

Rampaging raccoons: how the American mammals took over a German city β and are heading across Europe
Many in Kassel have embraced the animal but the EU classes it as an invasive species and ecologists are divided about what to do next
I wrote about the raccoons of Berlin in my book 'Cull of the Wild' - an interesting case - should they be killed? Should there be a plan to exterminate them? For a broad overview on the ethics behind these decisions, track down a copy or have a listen!
