XHTML makes more sense now that we are doing probabilistic coding via GenAI markup generation. Humans bristled with strictness and I get why we went html5 but conditions because of GenAI have changed. Same for semantic html. <div> soup is more of an anti-pattern than ever! Funny how things work.
LLM code gen: mapping a messy natural language to code by stats favoring popularity in training over correctness & is non deterministic
Compiler: mapping a formally defined programming language to curated optimized assembly language solely by logic & is deterministic

Sadly I think they are doing it wrong and really need to have a 100 agents pulling levers while you sleep until a jackpot happens.
For me 8 out 10 times the framework way just adds solution complexity. Sure in 2 cases you do need them unless you were very careful & good at architecture. Those 2 times are the basis of the “ok but if you worked on real sites…” argument which is just a “no true Scotsman” rhetorical dodge.

There is real dotcom browser war vibes in AI right now. One is way over their skis & is frantic to finding a $ stream ASAP despite being the early leader, one is gaining dominance by incumbent channel and can coast on their huge non-AI $ streams, & one is smaller & decent but unlikely to go big
It’s as if fixed width design is back but instead of 800x600 we declared nobody uses anything but phone width and at the same time we’ll make the JS and images so byte chonky that only those with high end phones and good connection may reasonably experience it.
Smells like … progress.
