Understanding GAM and how much Sounders have MLS recently released General Allocation Money totals for each team but, at least as far as the Sounders are concerned, it was a little deceiving.

MLS began releasing GAM totals in an attempt to add visibility into the inner workings of its teams. In the Sounders’ case, though, it was likely obfuscating. We explain:

based on his last two performances, I think Hassani Dotson may have a tough time holding onto his starting spot next to Cristian. Brunell just gives you so much more of what the team asks of that spot.

I think the main reason that St. Louis hasn't scored is because they don't have very good soccer players. However, I'd be fine if the Sounders stopped testing that hypothesis.
