As is often the case, I agree with Jess here, and I think Alan's version of things would effectively eliminate the First Amendment for code. The gov't should not be able to compel a developer to build specific features, whether it's backdoors or removing safety guardrails.

I think this story is a really good example for people to look at when it comes to understanding bias at NYT. It's not that the reporter, Dana Rubinstein, says anything outright false. But the framing, word choices, etc., add up to an unprofessional and biased account.
I would have given this like a <10% chance of happening (I'm not in the right loops to know about it). Good news.

The CW on Kennedy is that he's a smart man who pretends to be stupid. Maybe that's right. But if the senator thinks he's mocking Bier in this exchange, he's lacking some pretty basic self-awareness.

And however much contempt you have for media outlets who reverently relayed Trump's claim to have no relation to Project 2025, it isn't enough.
