Discounting remakes, we've not been back to Raccoon City since it got blown up. I'm interested in why the writer things tying things together in a way that shows all the games still connect is a bad thing.

that wasn't me being defensive, that was a genuine question. I want to know why the writer thinks what they wrote here. How is the past poisoning the series? I've read it 3 times and I just wanna know what exactly it is that's caused this piece.
Even there, I'll say this: What themes or setting are "poisoning" the series?
"In both cases, these complex playgrounds that once held so much power and came to potently live in the imagination of players are revealed for what they are: nothing but a collection of old memories and crumbling foundations." What am I misreading here?
I much prefer Leon's style of gameplay. Just a personal preference.
You know, I am gonna open myself to the criticism here, since if i'm gonna give it, i should be able to take it too. I stopped part way through the Care Center. It was not the kind of gameplay I enjoy. When I realized most of her gameplay was going to be hiding or running, yeah, I made a call.
Not to me they didn't, at least. Grace felt like a lot of running and hiding and no way to stun or fight back. Claire, Leon, and Jill at least all had means to somewhat defend themselves. Grace...never really seemed to.
erm...was there supposed to be some kinda criticism or something there?
Leon's gameplay was what made me excited for Requiem, but the way they did the main story mode meant I had to slog through the gameplay more reminiscent of 7, which I really didn't like. The remakes are some of my fav current RE games
Oh I certainly acknowledge that 6 isn't generally well liked and is seen as a lower point. I just found myself as one of the few people who really kinda liked what it did. 5 is probably my benchmark for RE gameplay though.
Indeed. I am aware saying this invites people to invalidate my opinion or other such things, but yes, I did like 6. Quite a bit.
Not really. I would say it depends. This article argues they need to do away with the past of RE. My fav games in the series are 4, 5, and 6. The way RE games play now and this focus on cutting out the characters we've known is just clearly not a fun direction for me. Hence my opinion
i wish they'd go back to the past harder. was better than the new stuff.
fight back at all, then maybe modern RE just...isn't something I should invest time in anymore. The fact that the game basically forces me to go through gameplay I dislike just to get snippets of what I DO like really ended turning me off the game.
from every single encounter. Is it scary? sure. But for me, it also becomes frustrating because in all honesty, I prefer Leon's style of the more action horror stuff from 4, 5, and 6. 5 and 6 were my fav games in the franchise, and if RE is gonna keep making me play characters who can't

So yeah, I refunded RE9. I get what they wanted to do here, I really do, and I actually like Grace as a character, but...Her gameplay segments are 1000% NOT for me, and I do not think they are fun. I do not like the gameplay of being completely unable to fight back and having to run and hide

Starting to look like Modern RE games may not be for me if Grace's playstyle is gonna keep being a thing.
Started Recording RE5 playthrough
ended up refunding RE9. Not the RE game for me.
hell yeah
Certainly on my wishlist
I can see why! Gets my vote for being awesome!
I love this pic honestly
still a very nice shade
DOA6 when? XD
It's also in Florida and as much as I'd love to try going, the idea of going to Florida for a length of time scares me.
Still like this pic lol
God do I feel this. I'm super sorry about that
Times like this I wish Infinity or Treyarch would say something, though IDK if they even can.
I was super hopeful for the OG god of wars to eventually hit PC, and I know this means that won't happen. I do see what you're saying here though.
