Teens are a different story. Research shows the effects of losing that hour can persist for up to three weeks, with measurably worse reaction times — a real concern for teen drivers. Full guide with schedules at the link. #dst #daylightsavingtime #teensleep

Clocks spring ahead March 8th. As a pediatric sleep physician, here’s what I tell parents: young kids who wake early will actually benefit — their 5:30 AM wake-up shifts to 6:30 without any effort.
Obviously Green was when they hit it big but they still retained a significant mystery. I miss not being able to know everything about cultural artifacts. It’s so easy now to whip out your phone and look something up instead of actually just appreciating it.
I used to pour over those CD inserts like they were the Rosetta Stone for clues to the lyrics and their meanings.
Discovering REM as a young fan was so exciting. I first heard “The One I Love” driving in a friend’s car in 1987 and I was immediately hooked but I actually started at Green and worked my way backwards.
Absolutely unbelievable. Public health has essentially been dismantled in the country.
Absolutely terrible. I have an 18 yo son and can’t even imagine what it’s like for your and him now.

As of now I wouldn’t send my kid to a Florida or Texas school (even though he would be interested).
It’s funny how whatever slights conservatives claim to deplore (e.g. policing free speech), they rush to do when they have the chance.
If sleep anxiety is stealing your rest, try hiding the clock or practicing relaxing rituals before bed.
Episode 17 of The Sleep Edit podcast is out now, diving deeper into these strategies.
What’s your go-to sleep hack?

In sleep medicine, we used to call this "psychophysiologic insomnia"-- anxiety about sleep onset. It's why people with insomnia often sleep better outside of the home-- the usual anxiety producing cues aren't there.
Many start stressing about sleep when they see the clock — it’s a common issue. The more one stares, the more anxious they become, making sleep even harder. Turns out, removing the clock can help relax the mind.
Struggling with sleep anxiety? Arielle and I discuss what was learned from personal experiences: watching the clock can actually make it worse.

I don’t know. I probably wouldn’t use it nightly long term but as needed is fine
Yeah, that’s probably safest. In theory when you mix your own sinus irrigation and you’re supposed to use boiled or distilled water although honestly, I personally use it from the tap.
(Long time, sinus and allergy sufferer here. So to paraphrase not just the president of the Hair Club for Men, but also a customer.)
Picture of Neil Med sinus irrigation bottle.
Agree with @justkelly.bsky.social above. Afrin is a lifesaver for a few nights but you can’t use it longer than that. Also a big fan of NeilMed products. If you can tolerate it, using two of their salt packets will help clear your sinuses and open up your nasal passages.
“Bro-science” not “process”
There was certainly a lot of buzz about this school among the process science and influencer class. Even when they were describing it, it sounded creepy as hell.
It is an excellent purchase and an instant buy when I came across a signed copy in my local bookstore (RJ Julia in Madison, CT) @rjjulia.bsky.social
