The Canada Line cost about the same per mile as the Orange Line, but unlike the Orange Line it:
• is frequent
• has quite a lot of TOD around stations
• directly serves neighborhoods and destinations
• has really good connecting bus service with efficient transfers
Yeah, that'd help with the statistics, but we gotta be fr. Construction costs of $230,000 per daily rider is not an efficient use of capital spending.

So apparently the TV HWY Transit Project has been watered down even further--TriMet says they're only going to be using 40' buses: that means NO ARTICS on a fucking FX ROUTE! This project will have:
- no dedicated ROW
- no signal priority
- no 60-footers
It's literally just a bus... a green bus.
It’s really amazing how many stops on the orange line are so close to serving important locations but are just far enough away to not actually serve those locations.

Holy hell the Orange line has such bad performance.
It's infuriating that fixing the cars parked in the way problem is basically free... just put concrete blocks in the parking strip and a no parking sign.
But that would mildly inconvenience a small handful of drivers, and some business owners would be upset.
my pitch to other transit advocates: streetcars are probably worth building at similar infrastructure standards to the yellow line or to european tram systems. more mixed traffic, parking-adjacent streetcar lines, like we're planning for in montgomery park? probably not worth it

Its... better than nothing, but a streetcar running in mixed traffic next to on-street parking is not a very effective transit service. Ultimately NW needs a proper MAX line in a subway.
