1cc #895: Performan! Cleared 1 loop (8 stages) of this oddball Data East game. You can dig underground (and so can enemy tanks). Annoyingly dangerous whenever a tank approaches from underground or any enemy approaches diagonally. Standing by towers, luring enemies, then blowing them up works well.

1cc #894: Parallel Turn. A series of skiing mini-games, like a snow-covered version of the arcade game Track & Field. Clearing a loop is pretty straightforward, clearing 2 loops - or reaching 1st place - would take more practice. One nice touch is that you can lose a ski, then later recover it!
This is another Push to Reject classic. It got 2 bongos out of 5, which I think is fair assuming we're "grading on a curve" (ranking it not just as a game, but as an arcade game released in 1982). Like Thunder Strike, it's held back by VERY repetitive level design.
1cc #893: Zoar. Very early Data East shmup that takes a swing at some big ideas for '82. You can fly at different Z heights. Three buttons: Air fire, ground attack, and GO FAST. Everything feels a little *too* fast to react to. From pattern 6 through 8 tap I was just tap-dodging constantly.
GG! There's a lot to learn but it's such a great game.
1cc #892: Thunder Strike. A game of questionable quality by a crook, Kyle Hodgetts, who went on to a career of assorted scams. 32 very repetitive levels of helicopter action! Weirdly, the game grants you a "time remaining" bonus when you die, just like it does when you clear a level.

1cc #85 revisited: Armed Police Batrider - this time Advanced Course. This really is one of the all-time great arcade games. God bless the Special Extend for giving me a welcome extra margin of error going into the final battle.

Passing through a tunnel of CDs to reach brunch - chipotle florentine at Seabirds Kitchen. I had a day of board gaming, my wife had a day at the art museum, and my niece got engaged. Quite a day!
