In all seriousness, though, along with my desire to focus on personal themes like trauma and recovery, another reason I wanted to stick close was so the reader wouldn’t see the “epic” plot too soon. (Trees, not the forest, you know?)
But Book 3 is time for reveals, so… 😬
They’re all still lesbian, though. 😅 Not all human. Not all human-SHAPED. But all lesbian-shaped.
Book 1 of the series: “I need to stick close for this one. So, I’ll do mostly one POV—with a few necessary shifts.”
Book 2: “Okay… Two points of view. Not a huge change. We’re okay.”
Book 3: “Oh, dear god. How many points of view do I have now?”
I’ve been so unbelievably sick this week that I’m starting to forget what it feels like to NOT have a fever.
And I’m severely anemic on top of it, so, you know…maybe the room is supposed to spin? Maybe equilibrium is a myth.
I stopped to get oranges on the way home from ReadOUT and saw a baby alligator.

This was such an incredible weekend. It’s always great to talk about books & writing—& queer books, specifically—but more than that, being together in this moment filled me with more hope than I’ve felt in a while. I love this community so much.💙

One of the hardest things about PTSD, in my opinion, is the way so many of the symptoms leave you feeling powerless. Powerless over your body, over your mind, over the past, and…during a nightmare or flashback, powerless over the present, as well.
