I finally made some book cards for Sapphic Book Bingo! (In my defense, Iβve been sick for AGES.)
If youβre participating, here are some categories Pirates of Aletharia & Goddess of the Sea fit! π
(The dragons would absolutely be offended by us calling them βpets,β butβ¦I think they count. π

In all seriousness, though, along with my desire to focus on personal themes like trauma and recovery, another reason I wanted to stick close was so the reader wouldnβt see the βepicβ plot too soon. (Trees, not the forest, you know?)
But Book 3 is time for reveals, soβ¦ π¬
Theyβre all still lesbian, though. π Not all human. Not all human-SHAPED. But all lesbian-shaped.
Book 1 of the series: βI need to stick close for this one. So, Iβll do mostly one POVβwith a few necessary shifts.β
Book 2: βOkayβ¦ Two points of view. Not a huge change. Weβre okay.β
Book 3: βOh, dear god. How many points of view do I have now?β
Iβve been so unbelievably sick this week that Iβm starting to forget what it feels like to NOT have a fever.
And Iβm severely anemic on top of it, so, you knowβ¦maybe the room is supposed to spin? Maybe equilibrium is a myth.
I stopped to get oranges on the way home from ReadOUT and saw a baby alligator.
*BABY* alligator. π
Iβm home from ReadOUT & already missing everyone. π
This was such an incredible weekend. Itβs always great to talk about books & writingβ& queer books, specificallyβbut more than that, being together in this moment filled me with more hope than Iβve felt in a while. I love this community so much.π
Friday:
Iβm a panelist on the Building Queer Worlds panel at 2:15 PM.
Iβm also a panelist on the Queering Romantasy panel at 6 PM.
Saturday:
Iβll be at the 6:30 Author Signing, (and Iβll have my gay dragon stickers again)! π
Iβm so excited to see you all! π
If youβre at ReadOUT this weekend, hereβs where you can find me! π
P.S. β Iβm operating on about two hours of sleep, so fingers crossed my brain still works! π
Officially on the road to ReadOut! π
You donβt have to do evil to be part of it. You just have to not care.
As a r*pe/SA survivor, the news has been absolutely destroying me lately. I canβt even count the number of panic attacks Iβve had in the last week.
This world has never felt safe to me, but seeing the apathy of so many people on full display is justβ¦
Snippet on blue dragon-scale background with white dragon separating the text: βShe and my mother disagreed a bit about my magical training,β Em said. βMy mother liked it deadly. Nymethβnot so much.β She waved a hand. βYou know, typical parental disagreementβwith growling and fireballs.β She tilted her head and squinted. βAnd people running and screaming...β β from GODDESS OF THE SEA, LESBIANS, PIRATES, & DRAGONS: BOOK 2, by Britney Jackson.
Nymeth was a perfectly normal dragon-mother. π
For the #lesficfri theme, βrun.β
Time to play, βIs this another depression spiral or just the state of things?β
In less than a month, weβve watched these monsters murder two people on video. Without remorse. Without humanity.
Weβve seen it from every possible angle, and every video shows the same thing. Donβt let them lie to you about what you saw.

Text on black and white background: βThe Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.β - from 1984 by George Orwell. β Abolish ICE.
Text on black background: Sapphic Books Are Political. Fantasy Books Are Political. Books Are Political.
If anyone was surprised by my feelings on this, Iβd have to assume theyβd never read my booksβbecause what did they think Catherine represented? King Eldric? The Assassins of Light?

This holiday season, SASS and GCLS are celebrating sapphic books with #SapphicBooksAreGifts, which is awesome for many reasonsβnot least of all because I require some form of coercion in order to market my books. π

I really enjoyed doing this interview with I Heart SapphFic several weeks back about Goddess of the Sea! π
I was having a bit of a scary flare-up at the time, and my mind wasnβt at its clearest. So, I MIGHT have dropped more hints about The Dragon Child than intended.

β¦than I was with this one. (And if youβve known me for long, you know thatβs saying something.) This book was so vulnerable and so personal. Every positive reaction has meant the world to me.π
I couldnβt be more grateful that you were receptive to what I was trying to do with Em & Maria. Thank you.

Iβve been having a pretty rough time lately, BUT during that time, Goddess of the Sea reached a happy little milestone!π
It now has over 500 reviews & ratings on Amazon! (And almost 200 on Audible!)
I know Iβve said this a few times now, but Iβve never been more terrified to release a bookβ¦

It was also a huge step for Em and Maria, and I deeply love what it does for their progress. π

Especially when the trauma came while under the power of someone else, that feeling of powerlessness isβ¦difficult.
So, to say this scene is a personal one (that made me cry many, many, many times) would be an understatement.
(3/4)
One of the hardest things about PTSD, in my opinion, is the way so many of the symptoms leave you feeling powerless. Powerless over your body, over your mind, over the past, andβ¦during a nightmare or flashback, powerless over the present, as well.
(2/4)
Goddess of the Sea is featured in this weekβs Sapphic Book Bingo category, βComforting the other character after a nightmare.β π
If youβve read the book, you know this is a particularly significant scene for Em and Maria, so I thought Iβd say a few words about it.

Snippet on a misty, green mountain background with a white dragon separating the text: Maria shuddered, as Emβs soft fingers scattered chills along her skin. βItβs the very life inside of you. Everything in Aletharia is magic.β β from GODDESS OF THE SEA, LESBIANS, PIRATES, & DRAGONS: BOOK 2, by Britney Jackson.
The only time Mariaβs okay with being wrong is when it leads to Em teaching her something. π
This oneβs for the #lesficfri theme, βchill.β
