Low and slow, the enduring style of lowrider culture in photos PASADENA, Calif. (AP) β€” Born in Mexican American and Chicano communities of the American Southwest, lowrider culture has grown from neighborhood boulevards into a globally recognized form of automotive art.

Once misunderstood, the lowrider movement is now celebrated as a symbol of creativity, craftsmanship and cultural pride.

I’m in Ohio. It’s one poll. Most of us aren’t getting our hopes up. We need to see more from the national Democratic Party to help us with voter registration and turnout. Otherwise this isn’t happening.

Rolling my eyes at the β€˜anyone else lose power?’ posts on the local Facebook pages.

Like, my friend, the First Energy outage map looks like the inside of a gumball machine. Nobody has power.

I work in a library, but sometimes, I like to buy books, esp. from favorite authors. And I do pre-order sometimes. The new book prices for upcoming releases this year...they're...high.

Longer, epic novel...$35
Shorter, 144-page novella...$25

I might not be treating myself to my own books anymore.

My grandmother's high school diploma from 1936. Her parents were poor Polish immigrants and she was the 1st in her family to graduate from high school. I just love the font and #artdeco drawings. It's a work of art. #Cleveland #familyhistory

One of the worst parts of observing people using gen AI for things you don't need to use AI for, is that those people do not understand how AI creates its output. If you don't understand HOW its algorithms work and WHERE its pulling info from, how can it be so easy to trust??

I’ve learned over the past week that baseball is more fun for both the players and the spectators in every other country besides the US.

I told my husband that I added β€˜Seeing a baseball game in Japan’ to my bucket list.

Any baseball game.

These fans are amazing. So appreciative of good baseball, even if it’s not their own team. I want to be in the stands with them.

Did he say anything about fully (FULLY) funding public schools? I’m guessing no, and I’m guessing private schools will continue to get public funds. Don’t talk abt changing education policy without talking about the $$ it takes to get there. He’s just a big hypocrite.

This is what happens in our American β€˜democracy’ when we try to have an influence.

I’ve seen a lot of international folks saying, β€œWhy don’t Americans do more??” Welp. This is what happens when we try.

When I was a teenager in the 90s, I was bookish & liked the quiet. I had four younger siblings; home was never quiet.

I'd go to the library for that quiet.

No, libraries aren't quiet anymore, but no place is. Those types of kids have no where left to go; we've let them down.

I love it when an old person says, "We did it this way and we turned out fine!" and they are the least-fine person you know.

I would rather buy a book with stick people drawings on them than one with AI-generated art.

Way to go, America. My 18yo son is worried abt the fact the there is talk of bringing back the draft.

He's scared of the same thing his grandfather was scared of: To involuntarily fight in a war we have no business being in, for government officials who do not care if he lives or dies.

You know the best way to kill AI? Don't use it. Don't buy it. Don't share it. Don't give the people who use it your labour or your money.

Defining women as "daughters, wives, sisters, mothers, and partners" is more objectifying than a strip show could ever be.

idk how to tell you this man but many sex workers are in fact women who deserve to be celebrated and esteemed and are loved and cherished mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, and partners among their families

Raise your kids so that you are jealous of their childhoods.

This may involve some lamentation and grieving of the childhood YOU had, but it turns into joy when you see them thrive.

09.03.2026 22:12 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I’m sorry that happened to you. After being raised religious, it’s so amazing to raise kids who aren’t subject to religious guilt & criticism. I’m kinda jealous of their childhood but so happy for the people they’ve become.

Religious schools STILL refuse to admit children with disabilities. And yet, in my state, they get vouchers that take $$ away from public schools, who have to educate EVERYONE.

The anti-LGBTQ sermon on Mother's Day.

Mother's Day.

I walked out with my 18 month old and we sat outside in the beautiful weather for the rest of the Mass.
