This is still ongoing - the hearing has been postponed until June. Please share and please donate - trans people and sex workers deserve to have families.

sometimes I see an essay so profoundly stupid that it moves me to condemn it but doing so would deplete every last ounce of the good will in my reserves... and I have to ask, is it worth it, John Paul? is it?

Moby Dick is an incredible book because it is all of the things Chanda talks about in this video and also it is an excuse for Herman Melville to infodump (often incorrect) Whale Facts on his audience and I love that for him

no.

yeah, trying to pattern match is exactly what you shouldn't' be doing here. just sit in the fact that this is not familiar to you. it is ok to not know anything about something. i am literally right here telling you about it.

In our latest, Mariame Kaba @prisonculture.bsky.social & Andrea Ritchie @dreanyc123.bsky.social on how to understand the spectacular violence of Trump’s ICE surges as an extension of the violence of everyday policing, and why to abolish ICE we must abolish the police

We need to be able to make a thumbs-down and a raspberry noise while also recognizing that’s about all that’s required.

I really wish it were possible to note that somebody acted like a little shit without that being treated like a total absence of moral character, which then spawns a lot of responses about *not* lacking moral character, which distract from the original issue, which was acting like a little shit.

Listen to the Podcast: One Million Experiments Listen to episodes from the One Million Experiments Podcast, where we explore community-based projects that expand our ideas about what keeps us safe.

I have a long running habit of listening to any podcast episode that Mariame Kaba appears on and that has never disappointed me, but one of the episodes that comes back to my mind the most often is this one from One Million Experiments season two: millionexperiments.com/podcast/seas...

On the Power of Maia Kobabe’s Gender Queer, One of the Most Banned Books of Its Era Maia Kobabe’s graphic memoir Gender Queer is a coming-of-age narrative that explores gender identity, sexuality, and the long, often circular process of coming out. First published in May 201…

"Gender Queer shows struggle without despair, confusion without cynicism, and growth without tidy conclusions."

@nicomaramckay.com Thank you for this generous and loving review, and for seeing exactly what I was trying to do with this book!

Chipotle is giving away free burritos if you show your tattoos tomorrow during a power hour in which the employees will want to die, I think Taco Bell should make their employees look at our books and shrug sadly for a free Baja Blast

My main view on here is a chronological feed of "mutuals," meaning ppl I follow who follow me back. I find that's a pretty good firehose.

Opportunities to feel naughty and transgressive without actually creating any potential harm are way too rare in life, and one should seize them whenever one can.

So yes, JUDGE ME FOR MY FOLLOWING PROMISCUITY. Tell me I'm a hopeless sinner. It only fuels my reign of terror!

When someone who seems cool and interesting follows me, I follow back because I like to be in community with cool, interesting people.

But now every time I do it, I know that I'm being bad and improper in the censorious eyes of the labelers bc I follow too many ppl.

Which just makes it more fun.
