We need reparations for ICE victims.

Anything short of that is setting the stage for a massive wealth grab from people of color that will re-entrench racial disparities for generations.

The US is at war and repression at home is going to get worse.

I'm old enough to remember during the Iraq war the FBI infiltrating quaker meetings and vegan potlucks and cracking down on anti-war groups and outspoken Muslim leaders.

The US surveillance state has grown exponentially since then.

If you're not chronically online, just know that fast food CEOs have been trying their own burgers and it's been hilarious.

Of course, you have to find the right therapist and be able to afford the sessions, but if you can, do it.

One thing that I recommend every couple do before they seriously commit (e.g. get married) is to go to couples therapy to review the relationship, see where you are aligned (or not), and learn basic communication skills.

Yes, I did it years ago, and it has been invaluable.

I think this story is a really good example for people to look at when it comes to understanding bias at NYT. It's not that the reporter, Dana Rubinstein, says anything outright false. But the framing, word choices, etc., add up to an unprofessional and biased account.

Millions of Americans can now claim Canadian citizenship by descent. But they have to prove it | CBC News Amid rising tensions in the United States and increased global volatility, many Americans are looking to Canada — and their roots — for a possible way out following recent changes to Canada’s citizens...

Gonna drop this in here : Canada recently changed the rules on citizenship by descendence, opening it up from one generation to pretty much "whenever". For folks who have **any** Canadian ancestry (which is a lot of the US), there is a path to citizenship in Canada. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

If you can’t be free in your body at least go be free in your mind and soul.

Fuck the haters.

Animals’ perception of time is linked to the pace of their life – new study For a starfish, most of life is literally a blur.

If you want something else to think about besides politics and war, this is a fascinating exploration of how animals’ perception of time and pace of life are interrelated:

When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee.

But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.

A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.
