Might be a latitude thing. Overall, when it comes to morning light exposure, Northerners get shnuggered from mid-Oct. till the return to Standard Time in early Nov., and again from now until mid-April. Except those who live far enough north that there's no escaping morning darkness Oct.- March.

A corollary to an earlier question. Are there immune system development risks for the (rare) homeschooled rural U.S. kid who isn't exposed to a parade of respiratory (and other) viruses as a result of school attendance? Can it be OK for a 7-year-old's future if she seldom catches colds?
