But the son of Maimon obviously wasn’t Jewish. If he was, he wouldn’t have been in Yerushalayim in the first place. 🤪

I don’t remember Trump running on a platform of locking up veterans.

You’re repeating an antisemitic gloss on a problematic story, and suggesting that 100% of christians consider that gloss to be the real story (which I know is not the case).

It’s only “understood” that way by christians who are influenced by medieval antisemitic libels. None of the Gospels, nor any other contemporary source, suggests that there was any lending going on at the Temple. Nor is there any particular reason to suppose that there was.

Bart Ehrman's New Book Claims We Have Christianity to Thank for Our Impulse to Help Strangers in Need Suffering is common to all; life is a wheel; prosperity is unstable. When you have wealth, stretch out your hand to the poor. Of that which God has given you, give of it to the needy. Let all of life ...

I reviewed a very hyped new book on Christianity coming out this spring: religiondispatches.org/2026/03/11/b...

Which is to say, respectfully, that perhaps your ear isn’t attuned to whether somebody telling that story is doing antisemitism or not.

They were money changers. The bible doesn’t suggest they were lenders, and neither does any other contemporary source.

11.03.2026 20:54 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Right, but even the bible doesn’t suggest that Jesus encountered any moneylenders at the Temple.

Also, “that’s just christianity, it’s not antisemitism” is kind of a non sequitur given the history of christianity.

It’s pretty antisemitic to describe the money changers as money lenders, tbf.

Jesus never flipped tables of any money lenders so far as anyone knows.

THEJERUSALEM POST
Mahmoud Khalil for an iftar meal at
 Gracie Mansion deserves more scrutiny
than it has so far received.
At first glance, the dinner may appear to
be nothing more than a gesture of
 interfaith outreach during Ramadan. New
York City, after all, prides itself on being
a mosaic of communities, and its
mayoral residence has long served as a
stage for cultural diplomacy. But the
 symbolism of this particular invitation

How is a Muslim mayor inviting a Muslim resident of his city to dinner on a Muslim holiday “a gesture of interfaith outreach”? What are you even talking about?
