So good to read a journalist who can convey things without waffle. Noticeably more clipped and to the point than some others at the Beeb
@alanjstedman
You will find me around the middle of the room. Outward looking because if you are not you get isolated and stop learning NHS for many years before retiring. Read a lot, listen a lot. Dovestones Reservoir ⬆️ I don't have access to DMs so don't bother!

I'm all for an informed conversation about these big item political issues, Constitution, PR etc. my worry is that we just don't have a practical mechanism to do that atm without the RW press getting hold of it and mangling it
I'm probably going to do the same!
So many great characters
As you are probably aware, greater minds than mine argue against a formal written constitution for this country - see DAG
I was for it but the US system isn't working atm - I don't think it's sufficient to say just because of the Dems and I'm now not so sure
Just had cause to play a few clips of Cheers back to find a suitable clip to emphasise a point
Gee what a great TV series that was. The writing whilst comedic, was often so to the point. The characters were so perfectly formed and the acting consistently top drawer

There's truth in that
The outstanding feature of both is that neither have any emotional intelligence
Rory Stewart savaged her lack of EI in his book when he related how as his boss she reacted when he turned up on a Monday and told her his father had died. 'Sorry. When can I have that report?'
True, but we have a constitution that broadly works because it's not full of specifics that a lawyer can find ways to get around
To be clear neither system is perfect and Trump has shown the Americans that they need a long hard look at theirs
In a similar vein, the candidate I interviewed for an NHS Director of Finance job who when asked if he had any questions came out straight away with, "What luxury car will I be able to choose?"
And then there's this one. Stick with it to the end

Everyone needs a Norm

Told y’all Elon’s DOGE team weren’t data analysts.
They were hackers!
A whistleblower says a DOGE engineer stole Social Security data and put it on a thumb drive, including personal information on hundreds of millions of Americans.
People need to go to prison for this shit.
How can one Administration be so incompetent at everything they do?
Maybe because all the time their focus is on Trump's piggy bank, not the well being of USA citizens?
I'm struggling to think of a worse example of a kakistocracy
Oh hang on, the UK had Liz Truss in charge for 49 days!
That post reminded me of Chumbawamba. One of the original members went on to become a CEO of a Local Authority in the north of England
Small world and all that!
Ha!
I was just reading the thread about Trump getting his adminstration to wear the same brand of shoes as him - Rubio's are too big
Then I saw this and I now have images of Jenrick, Braverman and even Anderson being told by Farage to wear flip flops as part of their uniform 🤭😂😂😂😂
And don't forget, Trump will be on a backhander for the piggy bank
Hegseth claims it was a military pincer movement I hear 🙊
That's the, Badenoch, 'we don't need anyone to mark our homework' principle
So, big parties in the UK need to be broad churches to survive seems to be implication
I hope the Greens are wise enough to realise that a lot of the people who are heading their way are not going to be comfortable with some of their key policies and will cluster to agitate for change
We'll see
The up sum is, they have no idea why they are there, no plans that counter the questions they should have asked and absolutely no credible plan as to how to get out of what they started
Talk about egg on your face
This should persuade voters they are at the very least incompetent at best, idiots
It resembles a video game more and more as every day goes by, except there is no reset button
And, good morning Jo
If you are going to do it, do it properly
Oh
What a waste of parliamentary time
So, strike this one from the lists circulated by the Starmerites of good things Labour has done

What might be termed a bit of a cock up then 🤭
P.S. Been there, done that...never again 🤬
I type Witkof and what does autocorrect do?
🤦🏼♂️
And Working is Trump's number one negotiator?
🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
With Joey Barton, it's important to understand that the tweets that he has had to pay out £300,000 for libel were *also* tweets that he was prosecuted for last year, and given a suspended sentence.

🤚🏼
Never one to shy away from the limelight is Joey
But like watching a Whitehall farce...in one door and straight out of another
Except it's really not funny at all
🚨🚨Major story of today: Nearly seven months ago, #Ukraine tried to sell the US their battle-proven technology for downing Iranian-made attack drones but #Trump admin dismissed the Ukrainians, only to reverse course last week because of heavy drone strikes from #Iran.🧵

“Never once did Reform promise to cut council tax” insists an angry Nigel Farage to Sky News.
Here's some of the leaflets Reform have been putting out ahead of the local elections
