"There's more to life than being able to buy cheap garbage," sagely intones the man who had a complete mental breakdown from which he has never recovered because he couldn't go to big box stores and chain restaurants for 3 weeks in 2020.

I found it very interesting when I learned about it on the architectural boat tour of Chicago
I am in Costco checking every fucking thing I buy to make sure it’s not made in the USA. Do you know how irate you need to make someone with ADHD to check labels like this?!

Rethinking our shopping habits and supporting Canadian goods has never been more important. The Globe and Mail has created a directory of domestic brands to replace major American imports. Let's support local businesses and keep our economy strong!
Tariffs tomorrow and tariffs yesterday, but never tariffs today.
Yes, my economic plan will cause short term pain. But after that you won't feel the pain anymore because you'll be dead
Sysiphus but instead of the rock he's shoveling the driveway and every time he's done the plow comes by and dumps another 1000kg of snow into it
Every time someone says LLMs are useless because they are so often wrong, I can’t help but wonder if they also consider talking to other humans useless for the same reason.
A screenshot from the 1995 game Phantasmagoria in which the protagonist is walking down a flight of stairs.
I like to play retro games around the holidays. It's already a nostalgic time of year, and old video games fit the mood. This year I chose Phantasmagoria. I had heard of it but not played it before. It's super cheesy and I've seen better acting in high school plays, but overall I enjoyed it.
I'm doing a lot of technical analysis these days and nothing raises red flags higher than the overuse of buzzwords to explain commodity technologies.
Boring technologies that just work are exciting. It means your customers can buy your product and move on to something else. Focus on that.
How have I not heard of Liftosaur until now
there are probably some amazing video games i would have loved that i never played solely because they had a name like RayneBlayde: Chronicles of Knyfe Saga
Something I enjoy in Star Trek TNG is when an officer is like 'I wanna do this thing' and Picard is all 'mmmidk bout that one'
But then an Admiral or someone comes in like 'we're here to stop your officer from doing the thing' and Picard is like 'I think the fuck not you trickass bitch'
My Spotify Wrapped was humiliating as fuck. Like, there’s a reason I listen to Hall & Oates ALONE in my car jfc
Do you have any idea how badly you have to fuck up a website to get a band that relies on social media to sell tickets to our little shows and stuff to nuke an account where we had 160k followers
I need to stop trying to guess what Part 2 is going to ask for. It's slowing me down in solving Part 1.
I've completed "Restroom Redoubt" - Day 14 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/14
Haha I did this too because I misread the question for part 1
Lol yeah, my solution for this one was some of the ugliest code I've ever written. So many loops.
I think this is the first one I've had a semi-efficient solution for :D
I just completed "Resonant Collinearity" - Day 8 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/8
I’ve spent some time on a TypeScript-first codebase this week¹.
I’ve now spent more time fighting against TS than writing out logic. I.e. I would have been 2x as productive without it.
Out of all these warnings, how many actually helped me fix real bugs? 0.
¹ I prefer JSDoc w/ TS imports myself.
🚀 Big news for Node.js! The latest LTS release (v22.12.0) enables require(esm) by default, accelerating ESM adoption. Plus, automated processes are speeding up releases and enhancing security. ➳ socket.dev/blog/node-js... socket.dev/blog/node-js... #NodeJS #JavaScript
Sucks that healthcare companies are removing webpages about their executives.
If only there was some sort of online "machine" that could go "wayback" in time and see those pages.
This was one of the few where part 2 was easier than part 1
I just completed "Ceres Search" - Day 4 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/4
