Every trans suicide is murder. Do not ever fucking talk to me about "fairness in sports." Do not talk to me about Gavin Newsom. Nothing you have to say matters more than trans children living to adulthood.

My father has sent the group chat a picture of purple crocuses in the grass.

Dad
This crazy Spring! These weren't here this morning.
such a pretty purple !

Mom
Enjoy!

Dad
I think I should take them with me to wherever I go

Mom
That's a good idea! Mark where they are.

Dad
They never move. Even when there's leaves or bricks or roof shingles. They always come back.

I know our expectations for this administration are in the basement but it is INSANE they started a war without a plan for the Strait of Hormuz.

lol we started Saint-Pierre and I love that the Canadian broadcasting corporation let Allan Hawco make another show where he plays the lead character who gets yelled at and humiliated by every other character

Bluesky, like Twitter (and many other services: see Google Reader!) before it, is hilarious as a thing that worked in ways its creators never anticipated or wanted. You can have creation thoughts, but you can't predict how people will use it. (And why not lean into how people actually use it?)

its really satisfying in a way to look around here and see that it never mattered what they wanted. like a mirror opposite of the metaphorical "nazi bar", they have made a transexual furry website whether they like it or not

right? their clear animus towards queer/trans people and oppressed populations in general (ex. palestinians who are actively being genocided) is extremely notable !!!

bsky actually might be a vanguard for whatever the next phase of social media is, not in the decentralization sense but in the "we actually never intended for users to use the website and got mad when they did" sense

kinda weak reporting by Wired in terms of bsky "positioning itself as a progressive twitter replacement" since the staff on here have been incredibly clear that that's not what they wanted to do and never wanted to do

honestly, what the fuck year is it? i have been meeting people from online since i was 14 and have literally never encountered someone who wasn't who they said they were (even if they ultimately weren't a cool person to be around). take normal precautions, meet in public, trust your gut, grow up

What ive realised this evening if that many people think that if a computer does enough math, they no longer believe the computer is doing math - a fairly typical human belief that the moment they cant intuit or map it out in a reasonable time it has become something bigger.

PANEL 1: A FRIEND showing MATTIE a big canvas.
FRIEND: Hey check out this art i bought. I think it's incredible.
MATTIE: Uhh. What is it?

PANEL 2: reverse shot, you can see it's just an enormous black dot on a canvas.
FRIEND: It's the aggregate of all human creative output, in the totality of recorded history, averaged out and then printed on this canvas!

PANEL 3: Shot from panel 1. MATTIE just kind of stares at the friend.
FRIEND: I can see you think I'm stupid. Would an IDIOT spend 14 billion dollars on it? Hmm?
FRIEND: Would an IDIOT have been MOVED TO TEARS by this?

PANEL 4: Same shot, two people walk by, looking amazed.
P1: Wow, the computers are getting so good!
P2: We'll be replaced any day now!

Cis people need to pay attention to the way they communicate this. They freely admit that after all of their research, they came up with zero evidence that HRT was harmful.

Then they banned it anyway, claiming their inability to find a reason is a reason in of itself.

Maybe they relied on AI to pick targets. But they bombed the school twice, hitting it again 40 minutes after the initial strike, in order to kill survivors and first responders. The mere *existence* of AI means no one has to be held responsible for this crime against humanity
