Currently setting up our new exhibition on #Swift and #GulliversTravels to mark 300 years since its publication. We're particularly happy with this staging of A Modest Proposal (1729), for which thanks to Joan Moynihan.

We could also lasso birds with spidersilk, like how we evacuated our strategic giant peach reserves back in the day.

Gorgeous. It’s like a bookplate from a Folio Society edition of a 1970s SF novel…

Today’s old book dive didn’t give me life goals…but it did give me a death goal: obligatory pancakes at my funeral.

YouTube keeps driving me toward watching TimeTeam episodes, but I guess it's better that than right-wing agitprop.

I've done work-for-hire countless times, so I know how it happens, but it's still wild to look in a book from a couple decades ago and realize that the publisher gave no indication who actually wrote or illustrated any of the work inside the covers, not even in the fine print.

LLMs are SO VERBOSE and anyone who’s done narrative design for even one game knows that players hate listening and hate reading even more.

One of the oldest tricks in the book is to make them walk to a place just so you have time to give them vital info.

A drawing in black ballpoint pen on white paper, oriented vertically, of Snoqualmie Falls in Washington state. White water pours from the top of the frame in cascading sheets, and seems to curl and swirl as it falls toward the river below. Image is rendered entirely using freehand vertical lines and subtle gradients.

Here's a draft manuscript of the Magic: The Gathering roleplaying game from 1996, and I've giving it away as a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood, with permission from the authors. Not sure how much to ask for. Vanishingly rare. $1,872 raised so far. #mtg #ttrpg

I prefer A. The round tiles feel more like data points, while the curves feel like data being forced into the format.

There’s truth in tales of how broken the world is and how people are pulled into their traumas…but it’s okay to look for hope and escapism in your stories and games, too. Use it to light your inner spark and hold that up against the darkness.

When it comes to word master-y
Paul Tobin has conquered these three:
Horror, romance,
and given the chance,
Limericks that end up dirty. Poop.
