Lancastrian in Leeds. Interests in web/tech stuff, politics, rugby league, cricket, music and other bits and bobs. I was the Supporters Direct Community Champion in 2016. I got a big crystal shard thing but she won't let me put it on the mantelpiece.

My wife is heading home from the US later today. I've taken my final opportunity to stack the dishwasher in the worst way possible.
In order to view pics posted by my wife on her trip to the States, I'm having to use Instagram.
OMFG what a shit show of a platform. Come home soon my darling, I can't take the pain.
Indeed!
About to take my wife to Manchester Airport. She's heading off to a quilting convention overseas and is super excited. Choc Ice and Chips for me and the boy for a week!
Went to the Leeds Rhinos v Wakefield Trinity game today. So that didn't turn out too well for Leeds.
In some alternate universe thereβs a version of me who really loves Monday mornings.
Oakeshott, who recently emigrated to Dubai with her children, explaining how "integrating" there was "not really challenging" as it is "90pc expats", beams in to complain about too many immigrants in London.

Trump's inauguration: government of the rich, by the rich, for the rich.
New post π

It would be terrible if people kept posting this tomorrow. Terrible.
3 things about this message that greeted millions of Americans on TikTok today:
1) the shamelessness of Trump who just U-turned on his opposition to TikTok.
2) the shamelessness of these tech companies, sucking up to Trump.
3) the fecklessness of Biden who gave Trump this win.
Donald Tusk: "I am aware this is a dream: that instead of a #Brexit, we will have a #Breturn. Perhaps I am labouring under an illusion. But I'd rather be an optimist and harbour these dreams in my heart. Sometimes they come true in politics." ~AA
So that's two weeks of 2025 gone already. I didn't set any resolutions but if I had, they'd all have been busted already.
The compacted snow/ice outside our house is like concrete. I feel like it'll never go away.
Oh I think I solved the cross-posting thing by using <title> instead of <content>.
We'll see what happens!
Screenshot of a tweet mentioning Canadians aiding Los Angeles by dropping water on the Palisades fire, paired with an image of a yellow firefighting plane releasing water near a residential area.
Thank you, Canada. AndΒ weβreΒ so sorry about him.

Two things.
1. We had posh Xmas crackers this year and I won a bottle opener. I attached it to my keyring. I just used it to open a bottle of beer β it was perfect.
2. The local Londis has become a Morrisons Local. My wife thinks this is exciting. Me too I suppose.
End of bulletin.
I tend to inwardly mock people who clear snow from outside their house, only for the snow to melt on the following day.
Today, my neighbour was clearing snow from the front of his mum's house.
"She has a chemo appointment tomorrow, I want to make sure we can get out."
I'll get my shovel then.
Happy Birthday Michelle.
Just about reached the other side of the festive period. I feel like once this weekend is out of the way, weβre done.
And relax.
Found our broken Google Home Mini today. It'd lost the ability to connect to Wi-Fi at some point or other.
I was going to bin it, but powered it up just to see and... it works. WTF.
It's like an early Xmas prezzie.
A work lamp illuminating a cellar
The light in our cellar is bust, and we're moving lots of crap down there because Xmas. So I bought this 11 quid lamp from Screwfix and it's awesome.
We've named it Pedro for no reason.
Just been on the phone to a call centre.
"You are currently in a queue. Your position is 6 back slash P R O M P T S back slash P R O D back slash"
Um, oookaaaay?
Set up SkyBridge in my Android Mastodon client. If this appears I suppose that means it's working.
We're having a carpet fitted today. They're coming at an unspecified time this (Tuesday) afternoon.
My attention is now drawn solely to hearing noises that sound like a carpet fitter's van pulling up outside.
Been a bit quiet due to the continuing pre-Xmas decoratiing etc etc. We're a bit full on and the current upside down state of the house is a thing to behold.
Well this is literally the most cool thing I've seen all week. (Credit to Lukas Ermter via Reddit and YT).

View through the archway of St Michael's tower on Glastonbury Tor. I love watching the mist below flowing across the town and land around.
