Oatmeal raisin cookies are what you settle for when all the other good cookies on the plate are gone.
Man, I miss GB. Simpler times.
A vintage GAF View‑Master packet titled “Special Subjects: Harlem Globetrotters” sits on a surface alongside its circular photo reel. The cover shows five Globetrotters in red, white, and blue uniforms posing with a basketball, with “©1977 Harlem Globetrotters, Inc.” printed at the bottom. Partially visible behind the packet is a signed certificate featuring names including Emel Smith, Edmond Lawrence, and Meadowlark Lemon.
From my #ViewMaster collection: a 1977 “Special Subject” reel featuring the Harlem Globetrotters.
Unfortunately like many View‑Master reels from this era, the film has developed the notorious red‑tint shift as the stock breaks down, but it’s still a fantastic little time capsule.
A vintage Choose Your Own Adventure book titled “Supercomputer” features a colorful, chaotic sci‑fi scene: a space shuttle marked “United States” arcs through a starry sky, a bright red hot‑air balloon floats nearby, and a boxy robot with a glowing green screen‑face stands in the foreground. Clouds swirl beneath the spacecraft, and the cover banner highlights “You’re the star of the story!” and “Choose from 22 possible endings,” with a note that this is a Special Book Fair Edition priced at $1.95.
Life can get Superdangerous without a Supercomputer around!

Painting of Casimir Pulaski
Happy Casimir Pulaski Day to all who celebrate! 🙂
Chicago kids know: this was the elite holiday — no school, Polish hero energy, and in my case, it often doubled as my birthday. Including today! 🎂

And they are so overpriced

This feels more like a 1970s View-Master diorama with captions like “Trouble pops for Donald”
A 20‑ounce bottle of Coca‑Cola Zero Sugar Cherry Float rests on bright green grass, tilted slightly to the right. The label features a pink‑to‑red gradient with the black Coca‑Cola logo, “Zero Sugar” beneath it, and an illustration of a cherry‑topped ice‑cream float. The word “NEW” appears near the top, and condensation dots the bottle, suggesting it’s cold.
Coca-Cola Cherry Float Zero Sugar (2/26): Basically Cherry Coke with a smoother, lightly creamy twist, like a Coke take on the Dr Pepper & Cream Soda vibe. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Honestly, Holiday Creamy Vanilla was a stronger limited release. #BevReview
Fun fact: I took these photos a full year before starting #MagicalTrash.
Apparently, the instinct to document underwhelming themed waste infrastructure was already forming. 📸🗑️😜
For any fan of #SleepBaseball, this alternative universe special is the best!
Question: what does "quint cities" actually refer to? You'd think after 47 episodes I'd figure it out 🙂
A holiday-themed Peanuts tin filled with Chex mix sits in front of a box of Chocolate Chex cereal. The tin features Snoopy and Woodstock surrounded by presents and candy canes, with text promoting a holiday Chex mix. The cereal box behind it shows a Peanuts character and an offer for a free holiday tin.
February is almost over, but our free Chex Party Mix Holiday Tin just arrived.
Snoopy is worth waiting for!

A mobile notification from the Disney+ app appears in Notification Center. It reads, “Because you watched Wonder Man, we think you’ll enjoy Inhumans. Add to Watchlist now.”
That's a bit of a stretch, Disney+
A small white lighthouse with a blue door stands on a snowy, windswept shoreline. Patches of brown grass break through the snow, and a frozen body of water stretches toward an overcast horizon. The lighthouse’s beacon glows warmly against the cold, muted winter landscape.

Our HQ is located next to Chicago's famed Rookery Building, designed by architects Daniel Burnham and John Wellborn Root in 1888, with its lobby remodeled ~20 years later by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Every so often after lunch, I slip inside and just marvel. Chicago architecture is hard to beat!
Out of curiosity, what combo NAS / drives are you using? Been looking to make the jump into that world - but it's scary 🙂

Today marks 26 years since the final Peanuts Sunday comic strip, seen here, appeared in newspapers on February 13, 2000.
In memory of Charles M. Schulz, creator of Snoopy and the Peanuts gang, who passed away 26 years ago today, hours before his final Peanuts Sunday comic strip ran in newspapers around the world. 💛
