I’m so sorry to hear it. Similar boat here, solidarity.

I am apparently very good at this.

Well, at least insomnia usually heralds the end of a migraine flare.

Is Buying a Home Freeze-Dryer Worth the Money? - Backpacking Light Home Freeze-dryers are handy but expensive. Are they worth the cost? We show you how to find out looking at different recipies.

Huh, looks like it’s not wildly out of the question but it’s a step investment- they cost a few thousand bucks. backpackinglight.com/home-freeze-...

I don’t - most folks don’t afaik; typically what you’d have is a dehydrator and that’s probably not as good for histamine. But it’s a moot point cause I don’t have one of those either (though I’ve been considering it…)

Okay actually it looks like freeze drying is one of the best things you can do to preserve food without histamine increases, that’s neat (I guess there’s no friendly bacterial environment for histamine production as long as it’s freeze dried promptly.)

Does pre-cooked include things like instant grains or freeze dried foods? Asking for a backpacker who is also me.

Also man this diet seems like an ADHD nightmare

Huh yeah. For me the correlation is not with sleep, though I do have better and worse days for undereye circles

I can definitely see cigars making things worse though. I’d be fascinated to know if there was an overall decline.

Having worked with small children though I can attest that car sickness is still alive and well

Wellll a quick google says yep

This is extremely interesting since my migraines tend to make me look like I’ve not slept for weeks. But also it happens some other times, sooooo this could be my diagnostic flush maybe

Wait hold on a goddamned second - is there any chance dark eye circles are also a thing in MCAS?

Yeah some stuff you just gotta keep in a more controlled social setting if you want nuance

Oooh or “those boots are a STATEMENT”

I’m also a big fan of the phrase “I love that for you!” even if it’s something I wouldn’t like for me. Especially if the person asking is signaling that what they actually want from me is validation and approval.

And I hope the migraine eases. They are the worst.

Tagging in @redshiftsinger.bsky.social who first mentioned to me that this was even a possibility. 13yo says that my migraine flares “smell like a sneeze”

WILD.

Oh yeah the audhd and cptsd versions of this game are both familiar to me and an endless source of fascination

Speaking of, my AuDHD 13 year old with sensory superpowers can smell my migraines. (Superpowers are a double edged sword)

So I wouldn’t be surprised to find that a lot of random stuff has been MCAS inflammation this whole time

09.03.2026 16:49 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Yeah I’ve observed stuff like this before e.g. when I went off gluten a bit over a decade ago and suddenly my digestion was WAY better and random systemic inflammation issues (grab bag of unrelated joint issues) stopped bugging me as much

09.03.2026 16:49 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Ohhh interesting. I do have bumpiness on my upper arms that I’ve been told was keratosis pilaris, I wonder if that’s related
