The classroom is tough at the moment - math classes are always hard, but our instructors do an excellent job. Most first year students need these courses and need to pass them. I have no idea how just cutting half the classes will improve educational outcomes.

AI is practising medicine without a licence, routinely crossing the line from providing health information to relaying a medical diagnosis. It needs to be held accountable, just like a doctor, by Angela Dong, @blairbigham.bsky.social

A $2,500 full body scan said he was healthy. Then he had a catastrophic stroke. Prenuvo promotes full body MRI scans to detect hazardous conditions early. But medical associations say they may cause unnecessary alarm or a false sense of security.

$2,500 full body scan said he was healthy. Then he had a stroke wapo.st/3ZfYSw5

Reality: "there is no documented evidence that total body screening is cost-efficient or effective in prolonging life" & potentially harmful (American College of Radiology)

Sum: evidence-free & exploitive money grab.

Public and private health care The Canadian Medical Association conducted a series of national consultations to inform our policy on public and private health care.

The CMA spent a year studying public and private health models and consulting with more than 10,000 Canadians on the balance between the two. The evidence is clear: where a parallel private health system operates, both health outcomes and access to care are worse.

Nation-Building or Asset Stranding: What Canada’s Latest Megaprojects Tell Us - CleanTechnica Canada’s new megaprojects focus on LNG expansion over clean infrastructure. A national HVDC spine offers a stronger path for growth and climate alignment.

Canada is pouring billions into LNG megaprojects while the rest of the world moves on. This CleanTechnica piece shows how public money is propping up fossil exports instead of building the clean, resilient economy we actually need.

Profound health inequities persist in Canada. We need to work together in humility to build a health system that upholds Indigenous rights with the goal of eliminating these inequities. I encourage you to spend some time observing #NDTR reflecting on your own reconciliation journey in the year ahead

What’s the Canadian take on #Tylenol and #pregnancy? Don’t stress. Heath Canada’s approval process for meds keeps us safe. There’s no credible evidence linking prenatal #acetaminophen use to #autism.

Still feeling uneasy? Best to talk to your #doctor or head to a walk-in clinic.

The love of reading is an endangered species.

Just 16% of Americans do regular leisure reading—down from 28% in 2003. Only 41% of UK parents read daily to their toddlers—down from 64% in 2012.

Books aren't merely a source of flow. They're a gateway to empathy and lifelong learning.
