My GDC pro-tip is that you should not shit talk the work of other people to make yourself look better
It in fact makes you look worse

This is no shade all of you look very cool but also very warm holy moly the sun is a ball of fire yall
That Leon Kennedy sherpa trimmed jacket is real popular at GDC huh
This sounds SUPER cool
If that ain't the truth. Sorry that happened to you but glad you found a better support network
That's easily one of the worst I've heard in a while.
The "their works are publicly available and widely cited 😌" is such a smug, telling attempt at a hand-wave of "did you get permission to do this"
60/40 TO THE PUBLISHER??? 115% RECOUP????? On top of everything else already bad? Good LORD.

See you all at GDC day 2!
I just own up to it and apologize and folk are usually pretty gracious! There's just so much happening at these events it overloads my brain.
Why Am I Dead At Sea is an excellent mystery adventure from 2015 (>400 reviews) where you find yourself dead on a boat, and have to inhabit other people to investigate your death and unravel their secrets. Wonderfully weird, moody, and offbeat.

This landed on my wishlist as soon as I saw it. This is a good sign.
Usually it's deflection. "Our terms are very fair. Our practices are very standard." Even when asked direct questions. Or they refuse to tell me anything unless I'm pitching a game they want, even if I'm just asking "hey what's your milestone structure like" or "what is recoupable and what isn't"
IT HAPPENED I was talking to someone who I thought was just a random friendly stranger for like five minutes before I realized I knew them (just not in person) omg 🫠
JOSIE??? Why is your grandma so cool
Yeah happy to share, especially the ones that impressed me!
There were more than a few who refused to meet at all, even when I asked to just grab a short call or something after GDC/PAX. I don't think they're hiding something, but it's weird to have a publisher get defensive over "hey what are your processes like and what do you look for in a game/team" 🤷♀️
Been meeting with some publishers at GDC just to hear about how they work and what they look for because folks are always asking me for publisher recommendations, and it has been super enlightening (and surprising) to see who is willing to be transparent and open, and who is cagey and defensive

I am working on my first game, Flowerbud: A Flower Shop Dating Sim in Godot.
I’m not at GDC (see pinned post) but would still love to connect :)
I didn't even realize it still worked, I'm so glad someone told me!

This show is an all-timer.

dashcon ball pit but it's the gdc garden
What a terrible idea. Hoping they walk it back after backlash but good lord. I can see how this might have stemmed from a well intentioned "hey lets have some food trucks come in for people" that mutated into this awful implementation
This isn't quite as bad as the GDC I thought "I have half an hour, let me check out that new Florence game everyone is talking about" but it's close
The cover for Joe Abercrombie'a The Devils, showinf a black and white skull with candles for horns above a crown
A black and white drawing of a person crying while looking at a sparkling piece of paper surrounded by hearts
I read The Devils by Joe Abercrombie and this is my review
Finished it on my lunch break at GDC and it destroyed me. Sequel can't come soon enough
Thank you Elle!
