Narratively having Ever Given getting stuck in 2021 to set up Hormuz in 2026 is great foreshadowing. You want your audience to understand the basics of international shipping in a lower stakes context so you drop the real plot without a lot of saggy exposition about the minutiae of cargo logistics.
I mean, they *are* lying about AI’s capabilities. LLMs cannot replace a single human worker. They generate bullshit that only looks plausibly real enough if you’re not paying attention (which if anything creates *more* work for the humans who have to correct all the mistakes).

It's my understanding (and this might be wrong) that that came mostly from the barbarian side of Europe. Like, the places that were most Romanized continued to treat women the worst, while the places furthest from Rome and latest to feel that influence (like Scandinavia) had greater equality.
