Please stop saying the bill allows "no more multi-year funding" - or at least be clear the 'more' is in reference to disastrous FY25 levels.
The bill allows 39% MYF, same as in FY25, which contributed substantially to a 24% drop in new research.
The bill has some wins. MYF is not one of them.

February 5 Lawyer, National Security Division: Bondi signaled the Foreign Agents Registration Act would be enforced only in very limited circumstances after the Justice Department had done a lot over the last decade to give it teeth. At its core, FARA is a transparency statute, to let the American public know when foreign actors engage in political activities or try to influence U.S. discourse. If you're concerned about foreign money and influence in politics, it's a bad time to go dark.
This whole NYT account about the weaponization of DOJ is beyond disturbing. Kinda feels like the US government fell in January.

Trump’s HHS put me on “non-disciplinary” admin leave today. This was retaliation for speaking up. Moves like this are designed to silence us. Let’s not let.

Can confirm! As of 2pm today I am on “non disciplinary” admin leave. I was given no reason. I was told it came down from HHS. I was given the name of an HHS attorney I could contact with questions. Haven’t gotten there. Will be updating!

@joann-trejo.bsky.social, @marymunson4.bsky.social and I have a commentary in @natcellbio.nature.com on recent attacks on DEI in biomedical research: "If scientific research, especially biomedical research, is meant to serve everyone, then it requires that everyone has an opportunity to participate"

this is indeed a direct response to that person who said we should abandon trans folk because “ppl won’t die on that hill, it’s not a winning political strategy”
Me. I will die on that hill. We leave nobody on the tracks.

Tweet from Monica Venzke that shows a giant poster of Donald Trump being hung outside the Labor Department headquarters. "He hung a big photo of himself on the side of Labor, which is quite literally the only time he's ever been on the side of Labor"
Tweet from the @USDOL accountant has three pictures of posters hung outside DOL headquarters, including one of Trump and one of Teddy Roosevelt, as well as a giant flag.

Yes I would quite seriously love to join. Please let me know!
Would love to do this but I live in DC! Can we send it to other state reps?

Oh my god, Russell Vought is a straight up sociopath. There is no rationale for this than a profound sadism. And this man calls himself a Christian. Like Torquemada I guess. How did he get to be so damaged? www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

NIH budgets are complicated because NIH funding varies from year to year, but they need to support projects that typically last at least 5 years (good science takes a while!). The sudden departure from the longstanding year by year model, and the budgetary chaos that will ensue, is bad.
