Well, that and WoW

It was a very strong influence on me as a person ok

You know, now that I think on it, Kingdom Hearts probably is why I use funky color combos or at least the high contrast

That and the confusing character lore. Definitely the confusing character lore.

That being said, I always played the games on Proud Mode from the get-go like a crazy person

But it made it funnier bumping into defenders and the eliminator in the long run lmfao

I really need to replay these games, its been so long

But man this series does hit really different as an adult

(Still sad that 382/2 Days and Re:coded are only movies on the steam version though....

Like, it might not be obvious (but is p obvious on my end) [REDACTED] was initially built as a KH oc, like if I point it out, they tick all the boxes

- Has no heart
- Their home is lost
- They pop into strange places (tho randomly)
- WIELDS A SWORD
& was partially designed after Sora's concept art

Its really built to pull at your heartstrings, no matter how you go about it-- You get attached to these characters & the lives they lived or even to the little critters you have as your buddies in DDD (The Me Me Bunnies & Pricklemanes are my babies don't @ Me ok)

Like, they don't mention it outright iirc, but Sora's slowly losing his ability to enter the hundred acre wood for instance.

Or that nobodies, even as realized people, fade once the somebody is reformed with their heartless, that whole cold open with Roxas in kingdom hearts 2 was devastating ok

Though, there's sad little tidbits here and there, outside of the main concept of heartless and lost worlds to darkness and trying to save Kairi and the other princesses of heart, and whatever the heck Xehanort was trying to do (I haven't played KH3 yet so sue me)

There's so much whimsy in this series, its like walking into a fairytale with familiar characters, if you ever did grow up watching old disney movies (On my end, House of Mouse and the Magical World Of Disney did a LOT of heavy lifting when I was little)

You get kinda swept up into it really.

There's something really profound with how they set Sora up, too.

Just a sweet lil kid with his friends and despite everything that happens he's still that bright and friendly kid by the end of it (though he gets really close to breaking at time, but he still keeps going despite this.)

I dunno, going from Re:coded, where the whole concept is to go into Jiminy's Journals that recorded everything that happened in KH1 and KH2, to thank Namine, a girl you basically never see in the game except for like two cutscenes, really did make me want to go play rest of the series

I know I got a lot of nostalgia for it, and it really is one of the relics of its time where disney used top experiment with their properties, with its full heart.

Its convoluted af, storywise, but I seriously wouldn't have it any other way

Like, I had the weirdest entry to that series as a kid, since Re:coded was the first Kingdom Hearts game I ever played (and it was a pain in the ass to get another copy of it since its only movies in the ReMix that its featured in

But man....

Its just one of those series that changes you I think

Thinking about Kingdom Hearts this fine evening....

From my perspective Maryam has always came off to me as a kind soul with a very cozy presence (though there's also the guns I still don't know how to go about that one LOL)

So I try to make her feel like a nostalgic summer's day when I doodle her, if that makes sense?
