Agreed with all of this but I still bought one. Since moving to Mac Studio and losing my iMac Pro screen Iβve been using my 2008? Cinema Display waiting for this screen. I love Apple case design and wanted nanotexture and height adjust. Iβll be looking at it for years so worth Apple premium to me
I donβt have any mics that can get that close without masking. I agree in an ideal world thatβs better though
I find AutoAlign Post very good for tidying up those sort of phase issues. Just give it a good reference and itβs amazing
Hi there! I have tried many things to get the capsules close together over the years but In the end pragmatism has won (Hard to get coincidence without blocking the main mics). Iβve just dropped it into the session and it sounds very good to me. 90 deg XLRs would help get closer I think
A cluster of 7mics set up in a 5.0.4 array in my kitchen
Experimenting with getting some height into a sound effect that needs to sound large. This is effectively a 5.0.4 setup (double MS + 4 monos for height). No guarantees itβll sound any good but might as well give it a go.
Looks good to me! Coming to it fresh and not knowing what you do it laid it out very clearly. I wonder if sound supervision should come first, above dialogue mixing, to show seniority in the team?

The tape report looks like itβs from the original tape- TLN means T(Mono 10β reel 15ips) LN (originated in London)
YLN means mono 7.5 ips London (if memory serves from 30 yrs ago as a Studio Manager) Suggests this might be a first generation transfer and tape report went back in wrong box??
Fantastic

Holy shit
I have a memory that he was there but didnβt want to be in it for some reason
I look quite young in that one! A lovely pic of all of us
Ha yes. Theyβre certainly a handful for the first few years. Meg was very much a full working strain collie so weβre looking for something a bit more mellow this time. Floppy ears are genetic marker for a more laid back collie apparently. Weβll see!
Back of a RME UFX+ interface with Ferrofish Pulse 16DX with loads of jacks, XLR and MADI cables coming out of them
Cabling for Dolby Atmos gets gnarly pretty quickly. Tried to start it when I was tired last night and it didnβt go well. Fresh start this morning though.
A short haired Border Collie with a red collar standing on a grassy slope with a ball in its mouth. She is black and white with speckled legs and that typical collie slightly obsessed look in her eyes.
We lost our lovely Meg fairly suddenly a month ago after nearly 13 years.
We all decided we canβt bear to be without a dog so weβre going to look at some puppies tomorrow.
Feels weird to be doing it so soon but Spring does seem a good time to start training a Border Collie. Big job ahead.
Love that Maceo has a picture of Trugoy on his T-shirt. Great start to the day

Didnβt mean to spoil your quiet moment. Sorry!
I listen to BB in that way often. A nice potter around doing chores with a gentle conversation going on at the same time
I actually thought Gabor Mate was infuriating, just going through the motions and not really engaging deeply with the ideas BB was trying to bring up. May have just been in a strange mood myself though!
A stage with musicians and a man at a lectern revealing the winner of a BBC Audio drama award. The background image is purple with the name of the finalists on it. Aldrich Kemp is the only one thatβs visible.
This photo makes it look as if we won Best Series or Serial at the BBC Audio Drama awards with βAldrich Kemp and the Rose of Pamirβ
We didnβt win, but we were finalists. So thatβs nice.
Thanks. Itβs going to be a while π°π° but a fun journey.
A couple of workbenches with a wooden frame sitting between. There are a pair of smallish black loudspeakers sitting, closely fitted within in the pine surrounds.
Iβm upgrading the studio to Dolby Atmos over the next few weeks. Iβm spending Sunday making the frames for the front ceiling speakers. (These speakers are PMC wafers). Woodwork is very much my happy place after a week running around and staring at screens.

Canβt share my pic as it was taken in an off guard moment in my house a couple of weeks ago, but itβs that monologue woman from Lovecraft investigations. Very happy with that outcome.
What Ted Sarandos did not tell the listeners to the Today programme just now about the Britishness of Netflix shows is that eg Adolescence came from talent discovered and nurtured and funded by British public-service broadcasters, not just found lying on the ground by US streamers.

If you liked this experiment, I published a full piece today in the same vein: a text that gets 100 years older with every section, from a modern blog post to a medieval chronicle.
It's a single story spanning 1000 years of English. See how far you get.
