What I love about the writing on the show is that this is used to make Floyd more pitiful; he can't think in anything but cliches. He has a good heart but a soft head.

That's hilarious! Some of the apartments on my block, growing up, had built-in breadboxes in the kitchens, along with drainpipes for literal iceboxes, otherwise I never would have known what one was, despite the cliche.

Loving the unnamed reference in #TheGoodbyeGirl to Stewart Klein, the theater/movie reviewer of WNEW-5 when I was growing up. I still remember his one-word review of the movie Tank: "Tank stank".
